Early endosomes and endosomal coatomer are required for autophagy [PDF]
Autophagy, an intracellular degradative pathway, maintains cell homeostasis under normal and stress conditions. Nascent double-membrane autophagosomes sequester and enclose cytosolic components and organelles, and subsequently fuse with the endosomal pathway allowing content degradation.

Plasticity of early endosomes [PDF]
ABSTRACT We observed that the structural organization of early endosomes was significantly modified after cell surface biotinylation followed by incubation in the presence of low concentrations of avidin. Under these conditions early endosomes increased in size to form structures which extended over several micrometres and which had an ...

The endocytic and exocytic system is important for cells to communicate with their surroundings. For instance, endocytosis allows the regulated internalisation of receptors (which can be ligand bound or not) into peripheral early endosomes and can thus ...

P Systems with Endosomes [PDF]
P Systems are computing devices inspired by the structure and the func- tioning of a living cell. A P System consists of a hierarchy of membranes, each of them containing a multiset of objects, a set of evolution rules, and possibly other membranes. Evolution rules are applied to the objects of the same membrane with maximal parallelism.

A promising RNA nanotechnology in clinical therapeutics: a future perspective narrative review
Nanotechnology is the use of materials that have unique nanoscale properties. In recent years, nanotechnologies have shown promising results for human health, especially in cancer treatment. The self-assembly characteristic of RNA is a powerful bottom-up

Loss of KEAP1 Causes an Accumulation of Nondegradative Organelles
KEAP1 is a cytoplasmic protein that functions as an adaptor for the Cullin-3-based ubiquitin E3 ligase system, which regulates the degradation of many proteins, including NFE2L2/NRF2 and p62/SQSTM1.

Crinum latifolium extract inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in human macrophages
Introduction: Crinum latifolium is a natural plant showing the anti-inflammatory effects. We aimed to evaluate the effects of Crinum latifolium extract on proinflammatory cytokine production and maturation of early and late endosomes in the ...

Proton-Activated Chloride Channel: Physiology and Disease
The maintenance of intracellular and extracellular pH relies on multiple ion transporters/channels. Proton-activated chloride channel (PAC) precisely regulates extracellular and early/late endosomal pH by transporting chloride ion (Cl-) across membranes ...

Being deeply connected to signalling, cell dynamics, growth, regulation, and defence, endocytic processes are linked to almost all aspects of cell life and disease. In this review, we focus on endosomes in the classical endocytic pathway, and on the programme of changes that lead to the formation and maturation of late endosomes/multivesicular bodies ...
