Comprehensive Analysis of Sinomenii caulis and Menispermi rhizoma Based on Ultra‐High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Ultra‐High Performance Liquid Chromatography‐Quadrupole Time‐of‐Flight‐Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Sinomenii caulis (SC) and Menispermi rhizoma (MR) are Chinese herbal medicines from the same family and are often confused. To achieve identification of SC and MR, the paper used the differential chemical components and the combination characteristics of chemical components to carry out a comprehensive analysis.

Effects of Restraint Stress on Circulating Corticosterone and Met Enkephalin in Chickens: Induction of Shifts in Insulin Secretion and Carbohydrate Metabolism

open access: yesAnimals
This study examined the effects of acute restraint stress in the presence or absence of naltrexone on the circulating concentrations of insulin, glucose, Met-enkephalin and corticosterone in 14-week-old chickens [design: 2 sex × 2 stress/non-stress × 2 +/

Differential Changes in Striatal Projection Neurons in R6/2 Transgenic Mice for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2002
In early adult-onset Huntington's disease (HD), enkephalinergic striatopallidal projection neurons show preferential loss, reduced preproenkephalin (PPE) expression in surviving striatopallidal neurons, and loss of fibers in their projection target area.

High Resolution Postmortem MRI Discovers Developing Structural Connectivity in the Human Ascending Arousal Network

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 17, 01 December 2025.
We used high‐resolution ex vivo diffusion MRI and graph theory to analyze ascending arousal network development in fetal to adult brains, revealing increasing rostral integration postnatally and identifying the dorsal raphe nucleus and ventral tegmental area as persistent connectivity hubs from fetal stages through adulthood.

Rapid‐Onset Therapeutic Effects of Delta Opioid Receptor Agonists on Depression‐Like Behaviors Induced by Chronic Social Defeat Stress

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 45, Issue 4, December 2025.
Delta opioid receptor agonists improved social avoidance, depression, and anxiety‐like symptoms induced by chronic social defeat stress within 14 days of chronic administration. Furthermore, the therapeutic effects were observed earlier than with the existing antidepressant paroxetine (28 days).

N‐Geranylated Amino Acid Surfactants with Low Critical Micelle Concentrations from Abundant, Naturally Derived Starting Materials

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 14, Issue 12, December 2025.
Cleaning Up Surfactants: Realising critical micelle concentrations lower than sodium dodecyl sulfate with sustainable surfactants prepared from amino acids and naturally occurring aldehydes. In this work, a simple method for the preparation of N‐alkylated amino acid surfactants in 1–2 steps is reported.
