ABSTRACT One of the great triumphs of mass spectrometry‐based peptide and protein characterization is the characterization of their modifications as most modifications have a characteristic mass shift. What happens when the modification does not change the mass of the peptide?

Anti‐Inflammatory and Antibacterial Properties of Curcuma longa Extract Against Helicobacter pylori
This study explored the effects of Curcuma longa extract (CLE) against H. pylori infection. CLE contained 18 chemical compounds and completely inhibited growth of H. pylori Sydney strain 1 (SS1) in vitro. In infected mice with H. pylori SS1, oral administration of CLE successfully eradicated H.

Silica‐Assisted Solid‐Phase Peptide Synthesis (SiPPS) [PDF]
The use of a non‐swelling resin for solid‐phase peptide synthesis allows the reduction of solvent consumption by up to 50%. ABSTRACT Non‐swelling silica‐based resin was used for peptide synthesis. The strategy used is similar to that of solid‐phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), referred to as silica‐assisted solid‐phase peptide synthesis (SiPPS).

Opioid regulation of Mu receptor internalisation: relevance to the development of tolerance and dependence [PDF]
Internalisation of the mu opioid receptor from the surface of cells is generally achieved by receptor occupancy with agonist ligands of high efficacy. However, in many situations the potent analgesic morphine fails to promote internalisation effectively ...

The distribution and functions of the enkephalins. [PDF]
The enkephalins are two pentapeptides with pharmacological properties similar to narcotic drugs. These peptides are widely distributed in the central nervous system. The basal ganglia contain particularly high concentrations of enkaphalins. In the caudate nucleus ultrastructural studies show that enkephalin is contained within synaptic vesicles ...

Cleaning Up Surfactants: Realising critical micelle concentrations lower than sodium dodecyl sulfate with sustainable surfactants prepared from amino acids and naturally occurring aldehydes. In this work, a simple method for the preparation of N‐alkylated amino acid surfactants in 1–2 steps is reported.

Quality Control Strategies for Differentiation of Kalanchoe Species
ABSTRACT Kalanchoe species products are commercially available in local markets and by internationally accessible online retailers and may exhibit quality issues because of misidentification from similar common names and anatomical similarities among related species used as feedstock. This study proposes an approach using UPLC‐MS/MSE and HPTLC, coupled

Asthma induced by enkephalin. [PDF]
A total of 291 diabetics were studied to see whether an asthmatic reaction was associated with facial flushing induced by chlorpropamide and alcohol. Of these patients, 191 reported facial flushing, of whom 12 reported breathlessness as well. Of these 12, five also described wheezing, and respiratory function tests showed them to have asthma.
