Cholesterol Laundry of Cell Membrane and Fatty Liver by Detergent Liposomes to Improve Anti‐Cancer Drug Responsiveness of Patient Liver Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cholesterol‐enriched plasma membranes in hepatocellular carcinoma impede drug penetration. Cholesterol (+)‐liposomes act as membrane‐specific detergents, extracting cholesterol and reducing barrier function without cytotoxicity. Following endocytosis, cholesterol transfers from endosomes to liposomes and is metabolized in the ER.

Estrogen receptor β exerts tumor repressive functions in human malignant pleural mesothelioma via EGFR inactivation and affects response to gefitinib. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BACKGROUND: The role of estrogen and estrogen receptors in oncogenesis has been investigated in various malignancies. Recently our group identified estrogen receptor beta (ERβ) expression as an independent prognostic factor in the progression of human ...

Estrogen receptor β exerts tumor suppressive effects in prostate cancer through repression of androgen receptor activity.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Estrogen receptor β (ERβ) was first identified in the rodent prostate and is abundantly expressed in human and rodent prostate epithelium, stroma, immune cells and endothelium of the blood vessels.

Clock Genes Regulate Ca2+ Signaling and Mitochondrial Bioenergetics to Inhibit Sjögren Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Although Ca2+ signaling and metabolism have been identified as key determinants for the development of Sjögren disease (SjD), the intricate connection between them and salivary gland physiology remains poorly understood. Methods Fluorescence‐based Ca2+ imaging, RNA sequencing, and mitochondrial activity were used to investigate the effects of

The Prognostic Value of Estrogen Receptor β Isoform With Correlation of Estrogen Receptor α Among Sudanese Breast Cancer Patients

open access: yesBreast Cancer: Basic and Clinical Research, 2021
Two estrogen receptor isoforms (ERα and ERβ) have been characterized with variable and sometimes contrasting responses to estrogens, partially explained by different receptor signaling pathways in estrogen-sensitive tissues.

A novel nerve block and anatomy workshop for emergency medicine residents: A pilot study

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Construct a workshop for emergency medicine (EM) residents to learn ultrasound‐guided regional anesthesia (UGRA) procedures and build confidence in performing those procedures. Use pre‐ and post‐workshop knowledge and confidence surveys to determine workshop effectiveness.

Somatic loss of estrogen receptor beta and p53 synergize to induce breast tumorigenesis

open access: yesBreast Cancer Research, 2017
Background Upregulation of estrogen receptor beta (ERβ) in breast cancer cells is associated with epithelial maintenance, decreased proliferation and invasion, and a reduction in the expression of the receptor has been observed in invasive breast tumors.

Potential role of estrogen receptor beta as a tumor suppressor of epithelial ovarian cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Ovarian cancer is the gynecological cancer exhibiting the highest morbidity and improvement of treatments is still required. Previous studies have shown that Estrogen-receptor beta (ERβ) levels decreased along with ovarian carcinogenesis.

Activity of Estrogen Receptor β Agonists in Therapy-Resistant Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
BackgroundAmong women, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Estrogen receptor α-positive (ERα+) breast cancer accounts for 70% of all breast cancer subtypes.
