Enzymatic Prenylation of Proteins and Peptides: From Cysteine S-Prenylation to Tryptophan-Selective Biocatalysis. [PDF]
This review highlights biocatalytic prenylation as a versatile strategy for tailoring the functional properties of peptides and proteins. By comparing branched isoprenoids with linear lipids, we illustrate how specific prenyl architectures modulate the behaviors of lipidated proteins within membrane environments.

Effect of detergents on sterol synthesis in a cell-free system of yeast
In order to obtain information about the reactivity of enzymes in sterol synthesis of yeast, the effects of some detergents were investigated. Among the detergents used, Triton X-100 was found to exert a unique action, and its effect on the incorporation

The Inhibition of Mevalonic Kinase by Geranyl and Farnesyl Pyrophosphates
Abstract The inhibition in vitro of a highly purified preparation of mevalonate kinase by terpenyl pyrophosphates has been studied. Geranyl-PP and farnesyl-PP are potent inhibitors, while isopentenyl-PP, dimethylallyl-PP, and inorganic pyrophosphate do not inhibit significantly.

Simultaneous Quantitation of Isoprenoid Pyrophosphates in Plasma and Cancer Cells Using LC-MS/MS
Isoprenoids (IsoP) are an important class of molecules involved in many different cellular processes including cholesterol synthesis. We have developed a sensitive and specific LC-MS/MS method for the quantitation of three key IsoPs in bio-matrices ...

The prenyl transferase undecaprenyl pyrophosphate synthetase was partially purified from the cytosolic fraction of Escherichia coli. Its enzymic products were characterized as a family of cis-polyprenyl phosphates, which ranged in carbon number from C55 to C25. The enzyme is constituted of two subunits of approximately 30,000 molecular weight.
