Extracellular Vesicle‐Transferred ATP‐Citrate Lyase Induces Monocyte Differentiation Toward Tumor‐Associated Macrophages and Fuels Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) enrich the metabolic enzyme ATP‐citrate lyase (ACLY). EV‐transferred ACLY enhances palmitate biosynthesis, increases the S‐palmitoylation and stability of multiple immune checkpoint proteins, augments the cellular immunosuppressive activity, and ultimately accelerates the malignant ...

Associations between estimated fatty acid desaturase activities in serum lipids and adipose tissue in humans: links to obesity and insulin resistance

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2009
Fatty acid composition of serum lipids and adipose tissue triacylglycerols (AT-TAG) partly reflect dietary fatty acid intake. The fatty acid composition is, besides the diet, also influenced by desaturating enzymes that can be estimated using product-to ...

Vascular dysfunction induced in offspring by maternal dietary fat involves altered arterial polyunsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis

open access: yes, 2012
Nutrition during development affects risk of future cardiovascular disease. Relatively little is known about whether the amount and type of fat in the maternal diet affect vascular function in the offspring.

Effects of fat source and dietary sodium bicarbonate plus straw on the conjugated linoleic acid content of milk of dairy cows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The effects of fat source (0.7 kg of fatty acids from extruded soybeans or palmitic acid), of sodium bicarbonate (0.3 kg) plus straw (1 kg) and the interaction of these treatments on the content of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in the milk of dairy cows

Fatty acid desaturase 2 promoter mutation is not responsible for Δ6-desaturase deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Human Genetics, 2011
Dietary essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) require fatty acid desaturases (FADS) for conversion to long-chain PUFAs (LCPUFAs), which are critical for many aspects of human health. A Δ6-desaturase deficiency in a single patient was attributed to an insertion mutation in the FADS2 promoter.

NSUN5 Attenuates Renal Injury and Ferroptosis in Hyperuricaemic Nephropathy Through YBX2‐Dependent Stabilisation of SCD1 m5C Methylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NSUN5 is downregulated in hyperuricaemic nephropathy. Overexpression of NSUN5 enhances the stability of SCD1 mRNA through the m5C reader YBX2, ultimately inhibiting ferroptosis in renal tubular epithelial cells. Additionally, this axis suppresses the NF‐κB signaling pathway to alleviate inflammation and upregulates ABCG2 to promote uric acid excretion,

Alpha-Linolenic Acid: Is It Essential to Cardiovascular Health? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
There is a large body of scientific evidence that has been confirmed in randomized controlled trials indicating a cardioprotective effect for omega-3 fatty acids from fish.

The BnTFL1‐BnJAM3‐BnSWEETs Module Orchestrates Seed Storage Reserve Accumulation in Brassica napus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 form a complex that facilitates the transport of soluble sugars from the seed coat to the embryo by directly activating the expression of BnSWEETs. Furthermore, BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 work cooperatively to promote soluble sugar and oil production while suppressing protein deposition.

Biosynthesis of Sciadonic Acid Derived from Gymnosperms with Anti‐Colitis Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an efficient Yarrowia lipolytica platform for unusual sciadonic acid (SCA) production and assess the anti‐colitis efficacy in mice of SCA, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic lipid. ABSTRACT Sciadonic acid (SCA), Δ5‐unsaturated fatty acid with anti‐inflammatory and lipid‐regulatory properties, is predominantly derived

PDIA6–SCD1 Axis Rewires Lipid Metabolism to Drive Gastric Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein disulfide isomerase A6 (PDIA6) is identified as an oncogenic driver in gastric cancer. PDIA6 directly binds and stabilizes SCD1 by limiting its ubiquitin–proteasome‐mediated degradation, thereby sustaining monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA)‐enriched lipid homeostasis and lipid metabolic reprogramming.
