Application of fuzzy control to fed-batch yeast fermentation
1997A new fuzzy controller has been designed and compared with the one developed previously for the control of fed-batch yeast fermentation. The respiratory quotient (RQ) was used as controller input and flow rate of glucose solution was controlled to maximize conversion of glucose to biomass.

Study on Process of Xylanase by Fed-Batch Fermentation
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015Xylanase has good application prospect in the paper and pulp industry, feed industry, health care and bioenergy industry, etc. The xylanase is one of the key enzyme in the utilization of biomass. Fermentation kinetics equation was constructed based on Logistic and Luedeking-Piret equation.

Extended cyclic fed-batch tylosin fermentations
Biotechnology Letters, 1987Biosynthesis of the macrolide antibiotic tylosin was studied in fed-batch fermentations. When glucose and sodium glutamate were fed to the fermentation in a cyclic square wave fashion with a period of 24 hours, it was possible to maintain high initial rates of tylosin biosynthesis for up to 240 hours before the synthetic rate decreased. By adding basic

Fed-batch sorbitol to sorbose fermentation by A. suboxydans
Bioprocess Engineering, 1998Batch kinetics for sorbitol to sorbose bioconversion was studied at 20% sorbitol concentration. The culture featured 90% conversion of sorbitol to sorbose in 20 hours. Increasing the initial substrate concentration in the bioreactor decreased the culture specific growth rate. At 40% initial sorbitol concentration no culture growth was observed.

State Estimation of a Fed-Batch Baker's Yeast Fermentation
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983Abstract This article gives an indirect estimation method for on-line determination of the biomass, the specific growth rate, the substrate utilization rate and the ethanol concentration of a fed-batch baker’s yeast fermentation. The method only uses measurements from established sensors such as gaseous oxygen and carbon dioxide analyzers, and an air

Intelligent Control of the Fed-Batch Fermentation Process
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999Abstract A distributed computer control system (FC-2) for fermentation process is introduced in this paper. The development and application of a real-time intelligent control system to provide supervisory control of fed-batch fermentation is presented.

Intelligent Dynamic Simulation of a Fed-Batch Enzyme Fermentation Process
Tenth International Conference on Computer Modeling and Simulation (uksim 2008), 2008This paper describes building of a dynamic simulation model for prediction of bioprocess variables. The simulator consists of three interacting dynamic model based on the method of linguistic equations. Each model has three versions, i.e. an own version for each phase of the fed-batch fermentation process.

Optimal Control of Fed-Batch Fermentation Processes
1998In this chapter the design ofa substrate feeding rate controller for a class of biotechnological processes in stirred tank bioreactors characterized by a decoupling between biomass growth and product formation is under study. As a typical example, we consider the most common case of monotonic specific growth rate and non-monotonic specific production ...
