Safety of Combined Statin and Fibrate Therapy: Risks of Liver Injury and Acute Kidney Injury in a Cohort Study from the Shizuoka Kokuho Database

open access: yesDrugs - Real World Outcomes
Introduction Statins and fibrates are important means of preventing cardiovascular diseases, particularly when administered in combination as part of various therapeutic strategies.

From Crisis to Diagnosis: A Case of Hypertriglyceridemic Pancreatitis as the First Clinical Presentation of Type 1 Diabetes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Acute Pancreatitis (AP) is a prevalent and rapidly progressive inflammatory disorder of the pancreas, often presenting with abdominal pain and elevated serum pancreatic enzymes.

Association Between SGLT2 Inhibitors and DPP‐4 Inhibitors Use and Risk of Acute Pancreatitis: Findings From Nationwide Case‐Based Analyses

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims The Korean national health insurance claims database was utilised to investigate the association between sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) or dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors (DPP‐4i) and the risk of acute pancreatitis (AP). Materials and Methods Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus prescribed DPP‐4i or SGLT2i at least

Cardiovascular Outcomes in a SELECT‐Like Obesity Cohort: Real‐World Insights From the Swedish AROS Database

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background In the SELECT trial, semaglutide reduced major adverse cardiovascular outcomes (MACE) in individuals with overweight or obesity and established cardiovascular disease (CVD) but without diabetes. However, real‐world cardiovascular event rates in comparable populations remain uncharacterised.

Fibrates downregulate apolipoprotein C-III expression independent of induction of peroxisomal acyl coenzyme A oxidase. A potential mechanism for the hypolipidemic action of fibrates. [PDF]

open access: yes
Epidemiological and transgenic animal studies have implicated apo C-III as a major determinant of plasma triglyceride metabolism. Since fibrates are very efficient in lowering triglycerides, it was investigated whether fibrates regulate apo C-III gene ...

Glucagon‐Like Peptide‐1 Receptor Agonists and Incident Major Adverse Liver Outcomes in People With Type 2 Diabetes and Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Treatment options for metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are limited. While glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RA) and sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 (SGLT‐2) inhibitors improve cardiovascular outcomes, comparative effectiveness on liver‐related outcomes remains unclear.

FIBRATES SEEM TO BE EQUALLY EFFECTIVE AS SECOND-LINE THERAPY IN PRIMARY BILIARY CHOLANGITIS, WITH BIOCHEMICAL RESPONSE PLATEAUING AT 6 MONTHS

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology
Introduction and Objectives: Approximately 40% of patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) exhibit an incomplete biochemical response to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and require second-line therapy.

Cholesterol accumulation in monocytes is associated with the severity of diabetic complications and the efficacy of glycemic control interventions in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This study reveals that monocyte cholesterol accumulation correlates with the severity of diabetic complications and predicts post‐discharge glycemic deterioration. These findings suggest that monocytic cholesterol serves as a novel translational biomarker reflecting ‘metabolic memory’ and therapeutic resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes ...

Hitchin fibrations are Ngô fibrations

open access: yes
We study the geometry of the Hitchin fibration for $\mathcal{L}$-valued $G$-Higgs bundles over a smooth projective curve of genus $g$, where $G$ is a reductive group and $\mathcal{L}$ is a suitably positive line bundle. We show that the Hitchin fibration admits the structure of a weak Abelian fibration. In the case when the line bundle $\mathcal{L}$ is
