Fibroblast activation protein is induced by inflammation and degrades type I collagen in thin-cap fibroatheromata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aims Collagen degradation in atherosclerotic plaques with thin fibrous caps renders them more prone to rupture. Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) plays a role in arthritis and tumour formation through its collagenase activity. However, the significance

Modulating Calcium Homeostasis via a Biomimetic Scaffold to Rescue Diabetic Ischemic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 58, 19 October 2026.
This strategy addresses impaired microcirculation and loss of extracellular matrix (ECM) guidance in diabetic wound healing. Musc@CP, a nanofibrous dressing combining an ECM‐mimetic chitosan‐pullulan scaffold with muscone, enhances perfusion by attenuating intracellular Ca2+ overload‐associated endothelial dysfunction.

T‐Cell Remodeling in Renal Fibrosis: From Acute Injury to Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 58, 19 October 2026.
This Review presents renal fibrosis as a sequence of overlapping T‐cell programs, from chemokine‐guided recruitment and metabolic activation to maladaptive polarization, tertiary lymphoid structure formation, tissue residency, exhaustion, and senescence.

In Situ Self‐Assembled Molecular Fortifying Agent for Enhanced Retention and Therapeutic Efficacy of Radiopharmaceuticals

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
A molecular‐fortifying agent strategy based on in situ self‐assembly is developed to prolong tumor retention of radioligands. After tumor‐targeting, FAP‐α cleavage triggers nanofiber formation, presenting azide anchors for bioorthogonal capture of pre‐accumulated radioligands.

FAP-Anchored Retinoic Acid Nanoparticles for Stromal Reprogramming and Enhanced Intratumoral Oxaliplatin Delivery in Fibrotic Colorectal Tumours

open access: yesBiosensors
In colorectal cancer (CRC), cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and the fibrotic stroma generate form a dense stromal barrier that restricts the intratumoural exposure and spatial distribution of oxaliplatin.

Integrated Spatial and Bulk Transcriptomic Analysis Identifies a Multicellular Ecosystem Involved in Progression of Young Breast Cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Young breast cancer (YBC), defined as diagnosis at or before the age of 40 years, is characterized by an aggressive phenotype and poor prognosis. The tumor microenvironment (TME), comprising immune and stromal cells, plays a critical role in tumor initiation and progression and is closely associated with clinical outcomes. However, alterations

Investigation of FAP (Fibroblast Activation Protein) in Thymic Epithelial Tumors

open access: yes
Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs), encompassing thymomas and thymic carcinomas, are rare neoplasms with diverse clinical behaviors, posing challenges in prognosis prediction and treatment. This study investigates the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP) in TET progression.
