Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

MCPD esters and glycidyl esters in food supplements of fish oils, algae oils, and krill oils

open access: yes, 2022
2-Monochloropropane-1,3-diol fatty acid esters (2-MCPDE), 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol fatty acid esters (3-MCPDE), and glycidol fatty acid esters (GE) are known for their occurrence in vegetable oils, but little is known about their occurrence in oils ...

Filtration d’une huile dopée avec quatre hydrocarbures aromatiques polycycliques (HAP) sur des plaques garnies en charbon actif

open access: yesOléagineux, Corps gras, Lipides, 2012
Powdered activated carbon is used in oils and fats refining to bleach and purify vegetable oils and fish oils. Actually, this powder makes it possible to detoxify crude fish oils and to eliminate contaminants like PAH, dioxin and PCB.

Modulation of the Liver Protein Carbonylome by the Combined Effect of Marine Omega-3 PUFAs and Grape Polyphenols Supplementation in Rats Fed an Obesogenic High Fat and High Sucrose Diet

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2019
Diet-induced obesity has been linked to metabolic disorders such as cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. A factor linking diet to metabolic disorders is oxidative stress, which can damage biomolecules, especially proteins.

Effects of Add‐On Icosapent Ethyl With Standard Treatment on Functional Outcomes and Inflammatory Biomarkers in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ischemic stroke, a major cause of mortality and long‐term disability, results from the abrupt cessation of cerebral blood flow due to vascular occlusion or rupture. Icosapent Ethyl (EPA‐EE), approved for hypertriglyceridemia, has anti‐inflammatory and antithrombotic properties that may lessen ischemic damage.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

THE PHOSPHORUS AND IODINE CONTENTS OF BRITISH COLUMBIA FISH OILS

open access: yes, 1940
The amounts of phosphorus and iodine in various British Columbia fish oils have been determined. It has been found that the concentration of phosphorus in the various fish oils is too low to exert much of an antioxidant effect, that samples of fish oil ...
