Replacement of dietary fish oils by alpha-linolenic acid-rich oils lowers omega 3 content in tilapia flesh

open access: yes, 2007
A 20-week feeding trial was conducted to determine whether increasing linolenic acid (18:3n-3) in vegetable oil (VO) based diets would lead to increased tissue deposition of 22:6n-3 in Nile tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus).

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Effects of non-fish based raw materials on the fish muscle quality of salmonids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Salmonids are considered as fatty fish and a healthy food. They are characterized by a high proportion of n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPUFA).

Total substitution of fish oil by vegetable oils in Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) diets: Effects on fish performance, biochemical composition, and expression of some glucocorticoid receptor-related genes

open access: yes, 2013
To study the substitution of fish oil by vegetable oils in fish diets, juveniles Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) were fed diets (56 % crude protein, 12 % crude lipid) containing either linseed (100LO) or soybean (100SO) oils in comparison with a 100

Alterations in fatty acid composition and volatile compounds in muscle of large yellow croaker Larimichthys crocea fed different dietary lipid sources

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2021
A 12-week feeding trial was performed to evaluate the impacts of different dietary lipid sources on the fatty acid composition and volatile compounds in muscle of large yellow croaker Larimichthys crocea (initial body weight: 36.87 ± 0.32 g).

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Total substitution of fish oil by vegetable oils in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) diets: effects on hepatic Mx expression and some immune parameters

open access: yes, 2008
The use of vegetable oils in fish nutrition has been extensively studied; and recent work has focused attention on replacing fish oil with alternative fatty acid sources and their effect on the immune system.

Pengaruh Pemberian Minyak Atsiri Daun Bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides) Dalam Transportasi Tertutup Benih Ikan Koi (Cyprinus Carpio)
[The Effects Of Bandotan Leave’s (Ageratum conyzoides) Essential Oil within Closed System Transportation of Koi Carp (Cyprinus carpio) ]

open access: yesJurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan, 2014
In the ornamental fish business, transportation has an important role to distributing fish up into the costumers. The distance between the farm and the customers location, require a transportation method which can maintain the quality and quantity of ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
