Long Fluorescence Lifetime Molecular Rotors Based on the 4,4‐Dicyano‐BODIPY Core

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Substituting fluorine with cyano groups in BODIPY‐based fluorescent molecular rotors yields viscosity‐sensitive dyes with significantly enhanced fluorescence lifetimes that can be used for viscosity mapping in living cells using FLIM microscopy. ABSTRACT Environmentally sensitive fluorescent probes with extended emission lifetimes are highly valuable ...

Gradient‐Structured Polymer Fiber Mats for Broadly Tunable Multicolor and White Lasing

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Hierarchically engineered electrospun fiber mats containing separated red, green, and blue dyes enable highly tunable multicolor and white random lasing. Spatially controlled dye distribution suppresses energy transfer, allowing precise color adjustment across wide color gamuts and accurate reproduction of daylight white standards.

Rapid Acquisition of High-Pixel Fluorescence Lifetime Images of Living Cells via Image Reconstruction Based on Edge-Preserving Interpolation

open access: yesBiosensors
Fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) has established itself as a pivotal tool for investigating biological processes within living cells. However, the extensive imaging duration necessary to accumulate sufficient photons for accurate fluorescence ...

Use of Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM) as a Timer of Cell Cycle S Phase

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Incorporation of thymidine analogues in replicating DNA, coupled with antibody and fluorophore staining, allows analysis of cell proliferation, but is currently limited to monolayer cultures, fixed cells and end-point assays. We describe a simple microscopy imaging method for live real-time analysis of cell proliferation, S phase progression over ...

Zero‐Dimensional Perovskite‐Inspired Scintillator‐Based High‐Radiation‐Resistant Radionuclide Analyzer Free From Irreversible Degradation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A zero‐dimensional perovskite‐inspired scintillator (Cs3Cu2I5) is developed as a high‐radiation‐resilient radionuclide analyzer capable of operating under extreme γ‐ray environments. Even after 200 kGy irradiation, the device fully restores its original spectroscopic performance through simple thermal annealing, demonstrating intrinsic defect ...

Near‐infrared confocal imaging reveals the spatial organisation of far‐red photosynthesis in Shark Bay microbial mats and Halomicronema sp.

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Far‐red light (FRL) cyanobacteria occupy spectrally filtered habitats where visible wavelengths are depleted but far‐red radiation persists. Shark Bay (Western Australia) stromatolitic microbial mats provide such a habitat, containing subsurface cyanobacterial communities in which chlorophyll d/f (Chl d/f)‐containing phototrophs coexist with ...

Calcium‐activated chloride channels in pericytes and their role in regulating organ blood flow

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Pericytes are microvascular mural cells with diverse roles. Contractile pericytes directly regulate local perfusion, while non‐contractile pericytes coordinate upstream vascular contractility via propagating electrical signals.
