Interaction of Fumonisin B1, N-Palmitoyl-Fumonisin B1, 5-O-Palmitoyl-Fumonisin B1, and Fumonisin B4 Mycotoxins with Human Serum Albumin and Their Toxic Impacts on Zebrafish Embryos [PDF]
Fumonisins are frequent food contaminants. The high exposure to fumonisins can cause harmful effects in humans and animals. Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is the most typical member of this group; however, the occurrence of several other derivatives has been ...

Plant defence mechanisms against mycotoxin Fumonisin B1
Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is the most harmful mycotoxin which prevails in several crops and affects the growth and yield as well. Hence, keeping the alarming consequences of FB1 under consideration, there is still a need to seek other more reliable approaches and scientific knowledge for FB1-induced cell death and a comprehensive understanding of the ...

Fumonisin B1 alters sphingolipid metabolism and immune function in BALB/c mice: Immunological responses to fumonisin B1 [PDF]
Fumonisins have been reported to have diverse effects on animals, including immunosuppression in chickens and feeder calves; therefore, the effects of fumonisin B1 (FB1) on immune function in BALB/c mice was investigated. When administered i.p. with sheep red blood cells (SRBC), 5 to 100 micrograms of FB1 reduced the number of plaque-forming cells (PFC)

The levels of fumonisin B1 (FB1) residues in plasma, urine, feces and hair from 24 piglets fed FB1-contaminated diets containing 3.1, 6.1 or 9.0 μg FB1.g-1 for 28 days were determined using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The levels of FB1 in plasma, urine, feces and pooled hair (n = 3) samples varied from 0.15 to 1.08 μg.

Simulation of Fungal-Mediated Cell Death by Fumonisin B1 and Selection of Fumonisin B1–Resistant (fbr) Arabidopsis Mutants [PDF]
Fumonisin B1 (FB1), a programmed cell death-eliciting toxin produced by the necrotrophic fungal plant pathogen Fusarium moniliforme, was used to simulate pathogen infection in Arabidopsis. Plants infiltrated with 10 microM FB1 and seedlings transferred to agar media containing 1 microM FB1 develop lesions reminiscent of the hypersensitive response ...

Obesity promotes fumonisin B1 hepatotoxicity
Obesity, which is a worldwide public health issue, is associated with chronic inflammation that contribute to long-term complications, including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. We hypothesized that obesity may also influence the sensitivity to food contaminants, such as fumonisin B1 (FB1), a mycotoxin produced

In vitro Interaction between Fumonisin B1 and the Intestinal Microflora of Pigs [PDF]
The caecal chyme of pigs was incubated anaerobically in McDougall buffer with and without fumonisin B1 (5 μg/ml) for 0, 24 and 48 h. The plate count agar technique was applied for enumerating the amount of bacteria including aerobic, anaerobic ...
