A novel multi-omics approach for identifying key genes in intervertebral disc degeneration
Many different cell types and complex molecular pathways are involved in intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). We used a multi-omics approach combining single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), differential gene expression analysis, and Mendelian ...

Identification of a key ceRNA network associated with ferroptosis in gastric cancer
Ferroptosis, a newly discovered irondependent form of regulated cell death caused by excessive accumulation of lipid peroxides, is linked to the development and treatment response of various types of cancer, including gastric cancer (GC). Noncoding RNAs (

ZNF197-AS1/miR-425/GABARAPL1 axis: a novel regulatory mechanism in uveal melanoma.
This study identifies the ZNF197-AS1/miR-425/GABARAPL1 axis as a novel regulatory mechanism in uveal melanoma. ZNF197-AS1 upregulates GABARAPL1 by sponging miR-425, inhibiting UM cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. This discovery highlights a potential therapeutic target, providing new insights into UM progression and patient outcomes.

Autophagy as a defense strategy against stress: focus on Paracentrotus lividus sea urchin embryos exposed to cadmium [PDF]
Autophagy is used by organisms as a defense strategy to face environmental stress. This mechanism has been described as one of the most important intracellular pathways responsible for the degradation and recycling of proteins and organelles.

Sex differences in the physiological response to acute anterior cruciate ligament overuse
Abstract figure legend With equivalent in vivo fatigue loading of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), females accumulate more tissue damage and mount a slower reparative response than males, when the applied loads between sexes are equivalent. By contrast, males accumulate less tissue damage and mount a robust reparative response that includes ...

Integrative Gene Set Analysis: Application to Platinum Pharmacogenomics [PDF]
Integrative genomics has the potential to uncover relevant loci, as clinical outcome and response to chemotherapies are most likely not due to a single gene (or data type) but rather a complex relationship involving genetic variation, mRNA, DNA ...

Expression profiling indicating low selenium-sensitive microRNA levels linked to cell cycle and cell stress response pathways in the CaCo-2 cell line [PDF]
Se is an essential micronutrient for human health, and fluctuations in Se levels and the potential cellular dysfunction associated with it may increase the risk for disease. Although Se has been shown to influence several biological pathways important in

Short coiled‐coil proteins from plants and metazoans – the ‘jacks of all trades’
Short coiled‐coil proteins from plants and metazoans—true ‘jacks of all trades’—play supporting but crucial roles in cellular stress response, metabolism, autophagy, and membrane dynamics. Despite their small size and modest sequence conservation, proteins like plant LSUs and metazoan SCOCs showcase remarkable functional versatility shaped by evolution,
