Effect of Lochein on liver metabolism under acute intoxication caused by the paracetamol and D-galactosamine

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2006
Influence of original hepatoprotector lochein in comparison with influence of reference drug silimarin on metabolism of liver under acute intoxication caused in rats by the paracetamol or D -galactosamine was investigated in the given study.

Average nucleotide identity of genome sequences supports the description of Rhizobium lentis sp. nov., Rhizobium bangladeshense sp. nov. and Rhizobium binae sp. nov. from lentil (Lens culinaris) nodules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Rhizobial strains isolated from effective root nodules of field-grown lentil (Lens culinaris) from different parts of Bangladesh were previously analysed using sequences of the 16S rRNA gene, three housekeeping genes (recA, atpD and glnll) and three ...

Synthesis and in vitro cytotoxicity of acetylated 3-fluoro, 4-fluoro and 3,4-difluoro analogs of D-glucosamine and D-galactosamine

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
Background: Derivatives of D-glucosamine and D-galactosamine represent an important family of the cell surface glycan components and their fluorinated analogs found use as metabolic inhibitors of complex glycan biosynthesis, or as probes for the study of

Exploiting the CH-π interactions in supramolecular hydrogels of aromatic carbohydrate amphiphiles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A novel class of supramolecular hydrogels derived from amino sugars is reported, where the self-assembly of aromatic carbohydrate amphiphiles is driven by CH-π interactions, rather than π–π stacking and H-bonding associated with gelators based on ...

Gemella morbillorum Promotes Colorectal Carcinogenesis: LPBDCP‐Mediated Invasion Activates Ras Signaling and Destabilizes p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

High density lipoprotein subpopulations from galactosamine-treated rats and their transformation by lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1991
It is known that an acute hepatotoxicity is produced in rats by intraperitoneal administration of galactosamine; a consequence of this treatment is a marked deficiency of lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) activity in the plasma compartment.

Pathways for the utilization of N‐acetyl‐galactosamine and galactosamine in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, 2000
Among enteric bacteria, the ability to grow on N‐acetyl‐galactosamine (GalNAc or Aga) and on d‐galactosamine (GalN or Gam) differs. Thus, strains B, C and EC3132 of Escherichia coli are Aga+ Gam+ whereas E. coli K‐12 is Aga− Gam−, similarly to Klebsiella pneumoniae KAY2026, Klebsiella oxytoca M5a1 and Salmonella typhimurium LT2.

Hepatocyte BDNF Acts as a Novel Immune Checkpoint to Restrain TLR4‐Mediated Acute Hepatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies hepatocyte‐derived BDNF as an endogenous TLR4 antagonist that alleviates acute hepatitis. BDNF is downregulated in hepatocytes via REST‐mediated transcriptional repression during ALI/ALF. Mechanistically, BDNF binds to TLR4 on macrophages to suppress inflammation.

Selective synthesis of α- and β-glycosides of N-acetyl galactosamine using rare earth metal triflates

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
Structures containing galactose and GalNAc residues are specifically recognized by asialoglycoprotein receptors, allowing them to selectively internalize by hepatocytes for drug-targeting delivery.

Purification and properties of a plant Agglutinin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
Thesis (M.A.)--Boston UniversityThis study involved work with extracts of the seeds of Bauhinia purpurea alba, in which an N specific lectin was found by Mäkelä (37) and Boyd and McMaster (16). There were two main purposes in mind.
