Supraspinal Circuit Mechanisms Underlying Itch Processing

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
Peripheral pruriceptive signals ascend from the spinal cord to the brainstem, thalamus, and cortex to encode the sensory features of itch. Parallel projections to limbic and basal ganglia circuits mediate affective and motivational components, including aversion and scratching urge.

Neuroendocrine Transformation Without PSA Elevation in High‐Risk Metastatic Castration‐Sensitive Prostate Cancer Under Androgen Receptor Signaling Inhibition: A Case Report

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroendocrine prostate cancer is a rare and highly aggressive variant of prostate cancer with a poor prognosis. We report a case in which metastatic castration‐sensitive prostate cancer directly transformed into neuroendocrine prostate cancer without a corresponding increase in prostate‐specific antigen.

Gastrin-releasing peptide receptor expression in gastrointestinal stromal tumours

open access: yesESMO Gastrointestinal Oncology
Background: There are limited treatment options for patients with advanced or metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) that lack mutations targetable by tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) or that have developed resistance to TKIs.

Radiation‐Associated Enteric‐Type Urethral Adenocarcinoma 20 Years After Prostate Brachytherapy: A Case Treated With Neoadjuvant Gemcitabine‐Cisplatin and Robot‐Assisted Radical Cystectomy

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Brachytherapy is a widely accepted treatment for prostate cancer, in which subsequent radiation‐associated enteric‐type urethral adenocarcinoma is extremely rare. Case Presentation An 83‐year‐old man with a history of cholecystitis, appendicitis, and hyperlipidemia who had undergone brachytherapy 20 years earlier presented with ...

Targeting the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor pathway to treat cognitive dysfunction associated with Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesDementia & Neuropsychologia
Increasing evidence indicates that bombesin (BB)-like peptides (BLPs), such as the gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and its receptor (GRPR), might play a role in neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Initial Dose Tarlatamab–Associated Tumour Lysis Syndrome in Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
We report a fatal case of acute TLS following a single 1‐mg dose of tarlatamab in a patient with relapsed SCLC with extensive liver metastases. This case highlights the importance of TLS risk assessment prior to tarlatamab treatment. Extensive liver metastases and elevated lactate dehydrogenase levels may be risk factors for TLS in patients with SCLC ...

Targeting rectal cancer using fluorescent nanoparticles conjugated to a novel GRPR-Binding peptide for tumor imaging applications

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Surgical treatment of rectal cancer is difficult due to anatomical complexity. To improve tumor resection, fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) has been developed using near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF, approximately 800 nm) and a dedicated camera system ...

Stress and eating: A dual role for bombesin-like peptides

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2013
The current obesity ‘epidemic’ in the developed world is a major health concern; over half of adult Canadians are now classified as overweight or obese.

Atypical Behavior in a Typical Carcinoid: When Minimal Proliferation Meets Lympho‐Vascular Invasion—A Case Report

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 14, July 2026.
Left: A 46‐year‐old non‐smoking female with a 2.4 cm right hilar mass (cT1cN0M0). Middle: Postoperative pathology reveals discordance between low proliferation (Ki‐67 < 2%) and unexpected focal lympho‐vascular invasion, with concomitant granulomatous inflammation. Right: After VATS lobectomy (pN0) and active surveillance, no recurrence occurred over 20

Precision Theranostics in Nuclear Medicine Targeting Gastrin-Releasing Peptide Receptor

open access: yesXiehe Yixue Zazhi
The gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) is highly expressed in various malignant tumors (e.g., glioblastoma, prostate cancer, and breast cancer) and has emerged as an important molecular target for precision cancer diagnosis and therapy.
