Mesoderm and endoderm internalization in the Xenopus gastrula
2020Mesoderm and endoderm internalization in the Xenopus embryo are based on a number of region-specific morphogenetic processes that co-act in the vegetal half of the gastrula. In the multilayered wall surrounding the blastocoel, the apical layer engages in bottle cell formation and associated invagination and involution movements, and in cell ...

Characterization of small RNAs in Xenopus tropicalis gastrulae
genesis, 2012AbstractHere, we report and characterize deep sequencing data and bioinformatics analysis of small RNAs from Xenopus tropicalis gastrula. A total of 17,553,124 reads with perfect match to the genome derived from 2,616,053 unique sequences were identified. Seventy‐seven percent of theses sequences were not found in previous reports from X.

Newly synthesized extracellular ribonucleic acids in the amphibian gastrula
Cell Differentiation, 1983The possible synthesis of RNA located in the extracellular compartment of Bufo arenarum gastrula was studied using a biochemical method. [3H]adenosine was microinjected into the blastocoel of late blastulae or early gastrulae, which were then dissociated at advanced gastrula stage.

Primary cell cultures from Drosophila gastrula embryos.
Journal of visualized experiments : JoVE, 2011Here we describe a method for preparing and culturing primary cells dissociated from Drosophila gastrula embryos. In brief, a large amount of staged embryos from young and healthy flies are collected, sterilized, and then physically dissociated into a single cell suspension using a glass homogenizer.

Mesoderm cell migration in the vertebrate gastrula
Seminars in Developmental Biology, 1994Abstract Mesoderm migration across the inner surface of the outer embryonic layer is an essential morphogenetic mechanism in vertebrate gastrulation. Conserved traits of this process are (1) cadherin-dependent cohesion of the mesoderm, and (2) a predominant role for fibronectin in mediating mesoderm cell-substrate interactions.

Mesoderm Cell Migration in the Xenopus Gastrula
1991We analyze the migration of the prospective head mesoderm (HM) across the blastocoel roof (BCR) during gastrulation of the Xenopus embryo. Cell spreading and the concomitant appearance of cytoplasmic lamellae depend on the interaction of HM cells with fibronectin (FN) fibrils, which cover the inner surface of the BCR.

In vitro studies of amphibian gastrula cells.
Journal of submicroscopic cytology, 1982Experiments are presented to determine whether Rana pipiens gastrula cells differentiate in vitro as they do in vivo with respect to rate, morphology and spreading characteristics. Comparisons are made between presumptive germ layer cells isolated at late blastula, cultured for 24 h, and the same cell types form late gastrula cultured for 1 h (LeBlanc ...

Thermal exposures of ectoderm cells isolated from amphibian gastrulae
