The psychometric properties of validated tools to assess cannabis use disorder: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims To systematically review the evidence on the psychometric performance and accuracy of screening or diagnostic tools for cannabis use disorder. Method Systematic review and meta‐analysis which included studies conducted in clinical settings, schools, universities, community settings and population‐based surveys in multiple countries and ...

A panel of diverse assays to interrogate the interaction between glucokinase and glucokinase regulatory protein, two vital proteins in human disease.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Recent genetic and clinical evidence has implicated glucokinase regulatory protein (GKRP) in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and related traits. The primary role of GKRP is to bind and inhibit hepatic glucokinase (GCK), a critically important protein

Validating the Gaming Disorder Identification Test in English, Chinese, Dutch and Indonesian

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Gaming disorder has been formally recognised in the International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD‐11), but purpose‐designed and internationally validated screening tools remain limited. We aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Gaming Disorder Identification Test (GADIT) to screen for past 12 ...

Hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia subtype glucokinase V91L mutant induces necrosis in β-cells via ATP depletion

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports, 2019
Hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia subtype glucokinase (GCK-HH) is caused by an activating mutation in glucokinase (GCK) and has been shown to increase β-cell death. However, the mechanism of β-cell death in GCK-HH remains poorly understood.

Distinguishing the lipid profile of GCK-MODY patients and its correlation with hsCRP levels

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
AimsGlucokinase–maturity-onset diabetes of the young (GCK-MODY) is the most common monogenic diabetes in China. We have previously reported on the low levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) in patients with GCK-MODY.

From hepatic to hematopoietic: LRH‐1's expanding cellular repertoire to the immune system

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The nuclear receptor LRH‐1 is a well‐characterized regulator of endodermal tissue. Yet, increasing evidence indicates that LRH‐1, although expressed at low levels, is also a critical regulator of the hematopoietic system. LRH‐1 regulates the immune system by contributing to immune cell‐specific functions.

Biochemical and biophysical investigations of the interaction between human glucokinase and pro-apoptotic BAD.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The glycolytic enzyme glucokinase (GCK) and the pro-apoptotic protein BAD reportedly reside within a five-membered complex that localizes to the mitochondria of mammalian hepatocytes and pancreatic β-cells.

Genetic basis of Asian diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent genomic studies in Asian populations have advanced our understanding of the diagnosis, pathophysiology, risk prediction, and precision care of diabetes. Monogenic diabetes, including maturity‐onset diabetes of the young (MODY) and mitochondrial diabetes, highlights the importance of genetic diagnosis for subtype‐specific care.

Monogenic Diabetes: Genetic Insight and Precision Therapeutics in the Management of MODY

open access: yesExon
A monogenic diabetes, specifically, the Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is the consequence of the single-gene mutations that are responsible for transcription factors such as HNF1A and GCK taking effect on the insulin synthesis, glucose ...
