Differential trafficking of AMPA receptors following activation of NMDA receptors and mGluRs
The removal of AMPA receptors from synapses is a major component of long-term depression (LTD). How this occurs, however, is still only partially understood.

A Small‐Molecule DEPTAC Rescues Cognitive Deficits by Targeted Dephosphorylation of Pathological Tau
TP2 is a fully synthetic small‐molecule dephosphorylation‐targeting chimera that recruits endogenous PP2A‐Bα to Tau, enabling targeted removal of pathological phosphate modifications. In two tauopathy mouse models, systemic TP2 reduces Tau pathology, preserves neuronal and synaptic integrity, improves neuroimmune homeostasis, and rescues cognition ...

GluA2-lacking, calcium-permeable AMPA receptors — inducers of plasticity? [PDF]
AMPA receptors (AMPARs) are heterotetromeric complexes composed of GluA1-4 subunits. They are glutamate-gated channels traditionally considered solely as ion carriers for postsynaptic depolarization. However, the existence and dynamic regulation of GluA2-lacking, calcium-permeable AMPARs (Cp-AMPARs) enable these special receptors to serve also as ...

Analysis of high affinity self-association by fluorescence optical sedimentation velocity analytical ultracentrifugation of labeled proteins: opportunities and limitations. [PDF]
Sedimentation velocity analytical ultracentrifugation (SV) is a powerful first-principle technique for the study of protein interactions, and allows a rigorous characterization of binding stoichiometry and affinities.

Sleep disturbance severity closely tracks hearing loss in a clinical cohort, yet the mechanistic link remains unclear. Acute sleep deprivation is shown to trigger transient cochlear oxidative stress that switches into a self‐sustaining neuroinflammatory state, suppressing BK channels and causing irreversible synaptopathy.

Endocytosis and lysosomal degradation of GluA2/3 AMPARs in response to oxygen/glucose deprivation in hippocampal but not cortical neurons [PDF]
Global cerebral ischemia results in oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD) and consequent delayed cell death of vulnerable neurons, with hippocampal CA1 neurons more vulnerable than cortical neurons.

Regulatory Mechanism of CRTC1 on Autophagy and GluA2 Expression in Epilepsy
The objective of this study was to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which cAMP-regulated transcription coactivator1 (CRTC1) regulates autophagy and GluA2 expression in patients with epilepsy. We initially established a magnesium-free epilepsy cell model and recorded cellular discharges using the whole-cell patch clamp technique.

Membrane lipid rafts are required for AMPA receptor tyrosine phosphorylation
Membrane lipid rafts are sphingolipids and cholesterol-enriched membrane microdomains, which form a center for the interaction or assembly of palmitoylated signaling molecules, including Src family non-receptor type protein tyrosine kinases.
