Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.

Physiological relevance of protein-glycosylation to pathogenesis of diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2014
Pancreatic β cells express glucose transporter-2 (GLUT2) on the cell surface as a glucose sensor molecule for appropriate insulin secretion. Disappearance of GLUT2 from the β cell surface is one of the early markers of the onset of type 2 diabetes ...

Vitamin C‐Induced Photo‐Redox Threshold Enables High‐Fidelity Volumetric Printing of Collagen

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Tomographic volumetric printing (TVP) of native proteins is limited by uncontrolled background crosslinking. Here, vitamin C is introduced as a biocompatible redox regulator to establish a tunable nonlinear polymerization threshold response for TVP.

Near‐Infrared Imaging of H2O2 in Plants With Nanosensors Under Environmentally Changing Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This paper reports a ratiometric nanosensor enabling robust, multivariate detection of stress signals (H2O2) in plants, with high resistance to light fluctuations and mechanical disturbances. Single‐walled carbon nanotubes serve as the sensor, Egyptian Blue nanosheets serve as a stable reference, and plant autofluorescence serves as a label‐free ...

A Retinal Matrix Stiffening Model Reveals FAK‐Dependent Mechanotransduction in Pericytes Underlies Vascular Destabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we show that retinal matrix stiffness is increased in diabetic mice. Using engineered human vascular models with controlled matrix stiffness, we demonstrate that stiffening activates focal adhesion kinase (FAK) signaling in pericytes, suppresses Notch signaling, and disrupts vascular morphology.
