Glycine-X-Glycine peptide gels
2021Low Molecular Weight Gels (LMWG) are a versatile class of materials used in a wide-range of applications. Within these materials, short peptide gels have gained momentum these recent years for bioapplications such as drug-delivery and tissue engineering due to their biocompatibility.

Glycine transporters (glycine transporter 1 and glycine transporter 2) are expressed in retina
NeuroReport, 2008The amino acid glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the spinal cord, brain stem, and vertebrate retina. The effective synaptic concentrations of glycine are regulated by at least two transporters: glycine transporter 1 and glycine transporter 2.

Glycine and transurethral resection
Anaesthesia, 1986Summary Fifty patients undergoing transurethral resection of the prostate were studied for evidence of glycine absorption and haemodilution. Plasma glycine levels increased substantially in nine patients and, in five, calculated irrigant, fluid absorption ranged from 619–1582 ml; another patient had absorbed 1360 ml fluid with only a ...

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses that in the biosynthesis of many nitrogenous substances glycine occupies a key position in amino acid metabolism. The great metabolic activity of glycine is reflected also by the diversity of its reactions, which involve all three positions of the molecule, but particularly the methylene and amino groups ...

The Search for Interstellar Glycine
Origins of life and evolution of the biosphere, 1997Millimeter arrays can be used to identify hot young molecular cores which contain large, highly saturated interstellar molecules, including biomolecules. These cores are prime locations for searching for interstellar glycine. The current status of the interstellar glycine search is discussed.

Transformation of α-glycine to γ-glycine
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1992Transformation in a cell of the a form of glycine crystals to the γ form under high humidity was observed by an in situ observation method. The transformation of α-glycine to γ-glycine was found to be solvent-mediated phase transformation. The kinetic equation was obtained, and the calculated values were in good agreement with experimental values.
