Buck Wheat: Nutritional, Bioactive Characteristics, Health Benefits, and Side Effects

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Micronutrient deficits have resulted from an over‐reliance on a small number of cereal crops for food security. The agricultural sector faces severe sustainability issues due to the rapid growth of the world's population and sudden climatic changes.

α2,3‐Sialyltransferase (ST3Gal1) regulates endometrioid‐type epithelial ovarian cancer cell migration and invasion via VEGF‐R2/JAK2/STAT3 signaling cascades

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To investigate the role of ST3 β‐galactoside α‐2,3‐sialyltransferase 1 (ST3Gal1) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGF‐R2) in endometrioid‐type epithelial ovarian cancer (E‐OC) because aberrant α2,3‐sialylation mediated by ST3Gal1 and VEGF‐R2‐related angiogenesis is linked with tumor progression. Methods ST3Gal1 and

The Nicastrin ectodomain adopts a highly thermostable structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Nicastrin is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, which is part of the high molecular weight gamma-secretase complex. gamma-Secretase is one of the key players associated with the generation of Alzheimer's disease pathology, since it liberates the ...

Effect of blood plasma components on human serum albumin glycosylation

open access: yesProblems of Endocrinology, 1996
Glycosylation of human serum albumin (HSA) with ascending glucose concentrations was studied. The incubation medium contained 5% HSA and glucose in concentrations 11, 22, 44, and 88 mmol/liter. The degree of glycosylation was assessed by the end product, fructosamine.

Glyco‐Nanogels for Modulating Pseudomonas aeruginosa Biofilm

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Nanogels presenting α‐galactose and β‐fucose can significantly alter Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm dynamics through their interaction with lectins. Application timing is crucial: pre‐treatment reduces biofilm, while treatment after biofilm initiation increases biomass.

The relation between plasma levels of nesfatin-1 and different grades of diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Internal Medicine, 2018
Background Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of renal failure. Diabetic patients with microalbuminuria typically progress to proteinuria and overt diabetic nephropathy.

Ion Activation Methods for Top‐Down Proteomics

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a premier method used to characterize the sequences of proteins. Top‐down proteomics aims to capture the multiple sources of structural diversity reflected in proteins, such as those that arise from alternative RNA splicing events or the addition of post‐translational modifications. Tandem MS (i.e., MS/MS)

Serum chemerin and diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabetic patients

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Internal Medicine, 2017
Background Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the microvascular complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). There is a need to find a reliable screening biomarker to help in the early diagnosis of this complication.
