Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a severe form of liver injury that can be caused by a variety of stimuli and has a significant mortality rate. A common technique to induce in vitro steatosis involves culturing primary human hepatocytes (PHH) in ...

ABSTRACT Liver metastasis is a leading cause of mortality in colorectal cancer (CRC), where the inflammatory tumor microenvironment, specifically neutrophil infiltration, significantly promotes metastatic colonization. This study reveals a pro‐metastatic role for alpha‐1 antitrypsin (A1AT) in CRC liver metastasis via a dual mechanism involving ...

Fatty acid metabolism in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) hepatocytes and influence of dietary vegetable oil [PDF]
Isolated hepatocytes from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), fed diets containing either 100% fish oil or a vegetable oil blend replacing 75% of the fish oil, were incubated with a range of seven 14C-labelled fatty acids.

m6A‐Mediated Glycolysis by IL‐37 Drives T Cell Metabolic Reprogramming to Regulate Colitis
This study identifies an IL‐37/SIGIRR‐METTL14 regulatory axis that suppresses global m6A modification in CD4+ T cells. IL‐37 signaling, mediated through SIGIRR, inhibits IRAK4 and JNK phosphorylation, leading to downregulation of the methyltransferase METTL14.

Replication and Injury Associated With SARS-CoV-2 in Cultured Hepatocytes
Background: Liver dysfunction is one of the hallmarks of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The mechanism(s) of hepatic injury in SARS-CoV-2 infection remains controversial with some reporting viral replication and cellular injury and others suggesting lack of ...

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Autophagosome maturation in primary rat hepatocytes.
Nutrient deprivation of eukaryotic cells elicits a rapid survival response, including the induction of autophagy. Autophagy, or "self-eating", involves the formation of autophagosomes from an unknown membrane source and the sequestration of cytosolic ...

FGL2‐HDAC11 Drives Immunothrombosis via NETs‐Mediated Endothelial Capillarization in MASLD Fibrosis
ABSTRACT Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is frequently accompanied by hepatic fibrosis and systemic cardiovascular complications; however, the mechanistic interplay between coagulation abnormalities and disease progression remains poorly defined.
