Platooning of Heterogeneous Vehicles with Actuation Delays: Experimental Results
In this paper we present a prediction-based Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Controller for vehicles with actuation delay, applicable within heterogeneous platoons. We provide a stability analysis for the discrete-time implementation of this controller, which shows the effect of the used sampling times and can be used for selecting appropriate controller ...

A Robust Longitudinal Control Strategy of Platoons under Model Uncertainties and Time Delays
Automated vehicles are designed to free drivers from driving tasks and are expected to improve traffic safety and efficiency when connected via vehicle-to-vehicle communication, that is, connected automated vehicles (CAVs).

ROBUST OUTPUT FEEDBACK CONTROL FOR HETEROGENEOUS AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE PLATOONS
An heterogeneous vehicle platoon controller for autonomous vehicles is proposed in this paper. The traction force of each vehicle is controlled according to the state of the predecessor vehicle, which can be known by LiDAR/RADAR, and the state of the leader vehicle, which is received by vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication.

Abstract The application of automated ground vehicles (AGVs) is well‐established in closed environments such as port terminals, while their operation in open areas remains challenging. In this work, we set out to overcome this limitation by introducing platooning as a transfer mode in heterogeneous vehicle networks.

Microscopic features of moving traffic jams
Empirical and numerical microscopic features of moving traffic jams are presented. Based on a single vehicle data analysis, it is found that within wide moving jams, i.e., between the upstream and downstream jam fronts there is a complex microscopic ...

Drayage Routing Problems: A Comprehensive Survey and a New Compact Model
ABSTRACT Drayage involves short‐distance container trucking, a crucial part of intermodal transportation that fills the gap between long‐haul transportation modes and inland facilities. Because of its high costs, drayage has been increasingly drawing the attention of researchers and practitioners from different disciplines, who have been exploring ...

The energy impact of adaptive cruise control in real-world highway multiple-car-following scenarios
Background Surging acceptance of adaptive cruise control (ACC) across the globe is further escalating concerns over its energy impact. Two questions have directed much of this project: how to distinguish ACC driving behaviour from that of the human ...

Federated Robust Embedded Systems: Concepts and Challenges [PDF]
The development within the area of embedded systems (ESs) is moving rapidly, not least due to falling costs of computation and communication equipment. It is believed that increased communication opportunities will lead to the future ESs no longer being ...
