Amylin analogues as a novel perspective in anti‐obesity therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Public health systems face a major challenge because of the worldwide obesity epidemic. The number of obese individuals has increased dramatically and, even in Switzerland which may be considered a relatively “lean” country, the numbers are alarmingly high and have reached almost 50% of the adult population.

Inhibition of peripheral CB1 receptors modulates food intake and metabolic efficiency in obesity independently of the gut–brain vagal axis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Obesity involves profound disruptions in neuronal circuits, neuroendocrine communication and the endocannabinoid system. While global blockade of cannabinoid CB1 receptors improves metabolism, its clinical use is limited by neuropsychiatric side effects.

Priming with interleukin‐1α and chemical hypoxia modulates the mesenchymal stem cell secretome to dampen microglial inflammation and promote neuroprotection

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose We hypothesised that dual priming of human bone marrow‐derived human mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) with interleukin‐1alpha (IL‐1α) and CoCl2 (a hypoxia mimetic) would modulate their therapeutic efficacy for hypoxic‐ischaemic conditions. Experimental Approach hBMSCs were primed individually or in combination.

ADSC‐Derived CCL8 Regulates HIF‐1α Signaling and Promotes Colorectal Cancer Progression in a 3D Coculture Platform

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration showing how CRC‐associated ADSC‐derived CCL8 promotes colorectal cancer cell migration through ERK/HIF‐1α signaling in a 3D coculture platform. ABSTRACT This study aimed to recapitulate adipose‐tumor interactions within the colorectal cancer (CRC) tumor microenvironment (TME) and to elucidate the role of adipose‐derived stem ...

Tumor‐Derived Exosomal piR‐hsa‐28212 Promotes Lymphatic Metastasis in Breast Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Breast cancer–derived exosomal piR‐hsa‐28212 promotes lymphangiogenesis and lymph node metastasis by activating VEGFC/VEGFR3 signaling. It stabilizes TBX1 mRNA in lymphatic endothelial cells and METTL3 protein in tumor cells, enhancing VEGFR3 expression and VEGFC secretion.

The Effect of Age on Human Adipose-Derived Stem Cells

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2013
Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells are a robust, multipotent cell source. They are easily harvested and exhibit promise in a variety of regenerative applications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the aging impact on adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells, relating to morphology, senescent properties, growth factor expression, and ...
