Two genetic codes: Repetitive syntax for active non-coding RNAs; non-repetitive syntax for the DNA archives [PDF]
Current knowledge of the RNA world indicates 2 different genetic codes being present throughout the living world. In contrast to non-coding RNAs that are built of repetitive nucleotide syntax, the sequences that serve as templates for proteins share—as ...

Phosphatase PPP1CC Regulates the First Lineage Segregation by GAS5 in Mouse Preimplantation Embryos
Subcortical GAS5 directs PPP1CC phosphatase spatiotemporal positioning during mouse morula‐blastocyst transition, controlling YAP dephosphorylation to drive first embryonic lineage specification. ABSTRACT The transcriptional effector of the Hippo signalling pathway, YAP, regulates the first lineage specification in mouse preimplantation embryos ...

Telomere protein complexes and their role in lymphoid malignancies [PDF]
Telomeres are highly regulated and dynamic complexes that protect the genomic DNA and prevent the end of linear chromosomes from being misrecognized as a broken DNA.

Antitumor mechanism of antisense cantide targeting human telomerase reverse transcriptase
To investigate the anti-tumor mechanism of antisense oligodeoxynucleotide cantide against hTERT.Tumor cells were cultured overnight and grown to 50-60 % confluence. HepG2 and SMMC-7721 were treated with cantide mixed with lipofectin, or lipofectin alone. After inducted for 6 h at 37 degrees, 10 % FCS in DMEM was replaced in each well.

Immunohistochemical localization of hTERT protein in human tissues [PDF]
Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein complex mainly composed of a reverse transcriptase catalytic subunit (telomerase reverse transcriptase gene, hTERT) that copies a template region of its RNA subunit to the end of the telomere.

Fundamental mechanisms of telomerase action in yeasts and mammals: understanding telomeres and telomerase in cancer cells [PDF]
Aberrant activation of telomerase occurs in 85-90% of all cancers and underpins the ability of cancer cells to bypass their proliferative limit, rendering them immortal.

Exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation is the main etiologic driver of nonmelanoma skin cancers (NMSCs), including basal cell (BCC) and cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (cSCC), which are the most prevalent types of cancers in the US. In this study, we demonstrate that the serine/threonine kinase Polo‐like kinase 4 (PLK4) is overexpressed in NMSCs ...
