ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

IL-33, Imprimatur of Adipocyte Thermogenesis [PDF]
Chawla and colleagues find that interleukin-33 is a critical controller of brown and beige adipocyte thermogenesis. Its primary impact is on the splicing of transcripts encoding uncoupling protein-1, resulting in uncoupled respiration and effective heat generation. Interleukin-33 acts perinatally to ensure adaptive thermogenesis lifelong.

Tissue signals imprint ILC2 identity with anticipatory function. [PDF]
Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) are distributed systemically and produce type 2 cytokines in response to a variety of stimuli, including the epithelial cytokines interleukin (IL)-25, IL-33, and thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP).

IL-1 receptor like 1 protects against alcoholic liver injury by limiting NF-κB activation in hepatic macrophages [PDF]
Background & Aim Alcohol consumption increases intestinal permeability and causes damage to hepatocytes, leading to the release of pathogen- and damage-associated molecular pattern molecules (PAMPs and DAMPs), stimulating hepatic macrophages and ...
