Iminosugars as glycosyltransferase inhibitors

Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2021
The review describes the syntheses and inhibition properties of pyrrolidine, piperidine, azepane, pyrrolizidine and indolizidine iminosugars, as well as iminosugar nucleotides and iminodi- and -oligosaccharides.

Iminosugar C-Nitromethyl Glycosides and Divergent Synthesis of Bicyclic Iminosugars

Organic Letters, 2017
An efficient one-pot method for the stereoselective synthesis of novel iminosugar C-nitromethyl glycosides is described. This new class of iminosugar glycosides has versatile nitromethyl functionality whose utility was further demonstrated in the single-step synthesis of bicyclic iminosugars.

Iminosugar-Producing Thai Medicinal Plants

Journal of Natural Products, 2005
Alpha-1-C-hydroxymethylfagomine (7), 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-DMDP (12), and 2,5-dideoxy-2,5-imino-D-glucitol (13) were isolated from the Thai traditional crude drug "Non tai yak" (Stemona tuberosa), which also contains a high concentration level of alpha-homonojirimycin (0.1% dry weight).

Enzyme inhibition by iminosugars: Analysis and insight into the glycosidase–iminosugar dependency of pH

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
Imino- and azasugar glycosidase inhibitors display pH dependant inhibition reflecting that both the inhibitor and the enzyme active site have groups that change protonation state with pH. With the enzyme having two acidic groups and the inhibitor one basic group, enzyme-inhibitor complexes with three (EH3I), two (EH2I), one (EHI), or no protons (EI ...

Iminosugar C-Nitromethyl Glycoside: Stereoselective Synthesis of Isoxazoline and Isoxazole-Fused Bicyclic Iminosugars

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
A simple and efficient method for the stereoselective synthesis of isoxazoline/isoxazole-fused iminosugar derivatives has been developed using intramolecular nitrile oxide cycloaddition (INOC) as a key step. Iminosugar C-nitromethyl glycosides, derived from simple carbohydrates, served as excellent nitrile oxide precursors in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition ...

Iminosugar thioglycosides as glycosyl donors: a route to disaccharides with an iminosugar moiety

Tetrahedron Letters, 2008
The iminosugar thioglycosides are used as glycosyl donors in glycosidation reactions. Thereby, iminosugar glycosides and disaccharide analogues with an iminosugar moiety are prepared. The yields are high and the method is stereoselective.

Iminosugars from Baphia nitida Lodd.

Phytochemistry, 2008
Chromatographic separation of the 50% aqueous EtOH extract of the leaves of the African medicinal tree Baphia nitida resulted in isolation of 10 iminosugars. The plant contained 2R,5R-dihydroxymethyl-3R,4R-dihydroxypyrrolidine (DMDP) as a major alkaloid.
