Journal of Dairy Science, 1976 During in vitro digestion of forages by rumen microorganisms in polycarbonate centrifuge tubes, forage particles formed dense mats which were raised above the level of media by entrapped gas. This did not occur with polyethylene centrifuge tubes. In vitro organic matter digestion was higher in polyethylene than in poly-carbonate tubes.

A microfluidic model for infantile in vitro digestions: Characterization of lactoferrin digestion
SLAS TechnologyWe present a miniaturized, flow-through model for infantile in vitro digestions, following up on our previously published in vitro digestive system for adults. Microfluidic 'chaotic' mixers were employed as microreactors to help emulate the biochemical processing going on in the infantile stomach and intestine.
