In Situ Genetic Engineering Facilitates MMP‐9‐Responsive TIMP1 Release Through Proteolytic Cleavage to Boost Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops an MMP‐9‐responsive protein release system that transforms resident cells into drug depots through in situ genetic engineering. Anchored to the membrane, the therapeutic protein TIMP1 is selectively released upon MMP‐9 cleavage.

Current advances for in vitro protein digestibility

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Protein is an essential macronutrient in our diet, source of nitrogen and essential amino acids, but the biological utilization of dietary protein depends on its digestibility and the absorption of amino acids and peptides in the gastrointestinal tract ...

Molecular Editing Reveals a Bilobalide Chemotype that Attenuates Prolyl Endopeptidase (PREP)‐Linked Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular editing of bilobalide uncovers BB56, a PREP‐engaging chemotype with enhanced anti‐inflammatory activity in microglia. Integrated CETSA‐MS, SAR, and pathway analyses link BB56 to attenuation of p38 MAPK/NF‐κB and NLRP3‐associated inflammatory signaling, highlighting bilobalide editing as a strategy for developing neuroinflammation‐modulating ...

Ultrasound‐Activatable Piezoelectric Hydrogel Reprograms Mitochondrial Epigenetics for Osteoarthritis Therapy via the mTOR/GATD3A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ultrasound‐activatable piezoelectric hydrogel reprograms chondrocyte mitochondrial epigenetics via the mTOR/GATD3A axis, clearing damaged mitochondria and alleviating osteoarthritis progression in both mouse models and human cartilage explants. ABSTRACT The avascular nature of cartilage hinders drug delivery for osteoarthritis (OA) therapy.

Structural characterization of soybean milk particles during in vitro digestive/non-digestive simulation

open access: yesLWT, 2019
Abstract This is a study of microstructure changes and Soybean milk colloidal particles degradation during in vitro digestion. Soybean milk passed through the digestion stages of the Infogest protocol, while its colloidal particles were examined in terms of size decrease/free surface evolution kinetics and of surface charge.

Caffeic Acid Release from Inulin Caffeate: A Comparative Study with Spray-Dried Inulin Microparticles Under Gastrointestinal Digestion

open access: yesAntioxidants
This study compared the physicochemical properties of inulin caffeate, where caffeic acid (CA) was covalently bound to inulin (CA-Inu, degree of substitution: 0.07), with CA spray-dried inulin microparticles (Mp(CA/Inu)), as well as release profiles of ...

Functionalized Biomimetic Scaffolds for Human‐Derived Auditory Neural Circuit Construction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In Vitro Auditory Circuit Model. ABSTRACT Damage to auditory circuits results in sensorineural hearing loss. However, the scarcity of human inner ear tissue significantly hinders the development of therapies to preserve auditory function, creating a critical need for reliable in vitro models.
