Negative thermal expansion in the Prussian Blue analog Zn3[Fe(CN)6]2: X-ray diffraction and neutron vibrational studies

open access: yes, 2011
The cubic Prussian Blue (PB) analog, Zn3 [Fe(CN)6]2, has been studied by X-ray powder diffraction and inelastic neutron scattering (INS). X-ray data collected at 300 and 84 K revealed negative thermal expansion (NTE) behaviour for this material.

A New Method for the Synthesis of 1-(1-Isocyanoethyl)adamantane

open access: yesMolbank
A novel single-step method has been developed for the synthesis of 1-(1-isocyanoethyl)adamantane from 1-(1-adamantylethyl)amine, chloroform, and t-BuOK, in a dichloromethane/tert-butanol (1:1) medium, yielding 92%, which is 27% higher compared to the ...

Ugi post-condensation copper-triggered oxidative cascade towards pyrazoles

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2011
Pyrazolidinones were prepared in a two-step sequence starting from α-hydrazonocarboxylic acids. After a four-component Ugi coupling, the resulting hydrazone was engaged in a copper triggered [3 + 2] cycloaddition/aerobic oxidation cascade.

A Novel Strategy of Ugi-4CR/Huisgen 1,3-Dipolar Synthesis of 1H-1,2,3-Triazole-Modified Peptidoimetics [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2018
In this protocol, we report a novel approach for the synthesis of a new class of heterocyclic 1H-1,2,3-triazole-modified peptidomimetic compounds. The process consists of an Ugi four-component condensation reaction of amines, an isocyanide, an aldehyde ...

Optimized Conditions for Passerini-Smiles Reactions and Applications to Benzoxazinone Syntheses

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Initial conditions disclosed for the Passerini-Smiles reaction are associated with a lack of efficiency that has prevented chemists from using it since its discovery.

Multiple Isocyanide insertions promoted by protic and Lewis acids

open access: yesTetrahedron Chem
The protonation, or Lewis Acid complexation, of electrophiles can trigger the sequential insertion of two or more isocyanides resulting in valuable iminonitriles or heterocycles.

Multicomponent synthesis of artificial nucleases and their RNase and DNase activity

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2011
The synthesis of new, artificial ribonucleases containing two amino acid residues connected by an aliphatic linker has been developed. Target molecules were synthesized via a catalytic three-component Ugi reaction from aliphatic diisocyanides ...

Construction of a Planar Tetrapalladium Cluster by the Reaction of Palladium(0) Bis(isocyanide) with Cyclic Tetrasilane

open access: yesInorganics, 2017
The planar tetrapalladium cluster Pd4{Si(iPr)2}3(CNtBu)4 (4) was synthesised in 86% isolated yield by the reaction of palladium(0) bis(isocyanide) Pd(CNtBu)2 with octaisopropylcyclotetrasilane (3).

Homoacetogenesis as an alternative hydrogen sink in the rumen : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Genetics at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Ruminant livestock contribute significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions. This is due to microorganisms, known as methanogens that generate methane from hydrogen and carbon dioxide during feed fermentation in the rumen.
