The title phosphine-isocyanides were obtained by reaction of 2-lithioaryl isocyanides with diarylchlorophosphines. They cyclize to 1,3-benzazaphospholes with cleavage of their two aryl–P bonds upon treatment with an excess of lithium in THF.
