Studies on Oxasteroids. I. Synthesis of 3-Cyano-3-methylchroman-4-one. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Condensation of chroman-4-one with ethyl formate in the presence of sodium methoxide gave 3-hydroxymethylenechroman-4-one (II). Reaction of II with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, followed isomerization by potassium t-butoxide gave IV.

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions of 2-thio-3-chloroacrylamides with nitrile oxides and nitrones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions of 2-thio-3-chloroacrylamides with nitrile oxides and nitrones is described. A series of novel isoxazolines are isolated from the nitrile oxide cycloadditions, whilst the isoxazolines generated from the nitrone cycloadditions ...

ERNEST COST action overview on the (patho)physiology of GPCRs and orphan GPCRs in the nervous system

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) are a large family of cell surface receptors that play a critical role in nervous system function by transmitting signals between cells and their environment. They are involved in many, if not all, nervous system processes, and their dysfunction has been linked to various neurological disorders representing important

Nimodipine reduces microglial activation in vitro as evidenced by morphological phenotype, phagocytic activity and high‐throughput RNA sequencing

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Nimodipine, an L‐type voltage‐gated calcium channel blocker, is an approved cerebral vasorelaxant. We hypothesized that nimodipine attenuates the pro‐inflammatory shift in microglial phenotypes. Here, we analysed the effects of nimodipine on morphological and functional microglial phenotypes as well as their transcriptomic ...

Synthesis of some isoxazoline, isoxazole and pyrazole carboxylic acids as the precursors of new 1,2-diacyl-1-alkylhydrazines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A number of isoxazoline, isoxazole and pyrazole carboxylic acids or their esters has been synthesized via the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of corresponding nitrile oxides or diazomethane to unsaturated dipolarophiles.

3-Allyl-1-{[3-(4-nitrophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-5-yl]methyl}-1H-anthra[1,2-d]imidazole-2,6,11(3H)-trione [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The molecular structure of the title compound, C28H20N4O6, consists of three fused six-membered rings (A,B,C) and one five-membered ring (D). The latter is linked to an isoxazole ring (E) via a methylene unit.

Neuroprotection for neonatal hypoxic–ischemic encephalopathy: A review of novel therapies evaluated in clinical studies

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 591-599, May 2025.
Hypoxic‐ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a neurologic condition that is caused by insufficient oxygen and blood flow to a newborn infant’s brain. Although therapeutic hypothermia can reduce the degree of brain injury in some infants with HIE, many infants with HIE will have significant lifelong disabilities despite receiving this treatment.

A repurposing strategy for Hsp90 inhibitors demonstrates their potency against filarial nematodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Novel drugs are required for the elimination of infections caused by filarial worms, as most commonly used drugs largely target the microfilariae or first stage larvae of these infections.

Synthesis of 5-(Fluoroalkyl)isoxazole Building Blocks by Regioselective Reactions of Functionalized Halogenoximes.

open access: yesJournal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
A comprehensive study on the synthesis of 5-fluoroalkyl-substituted isoxazoles starting from functionalized halogenoximes is reported. One-pot metal-free [3+2] cycloaddition of CF3-substituted alkenes and halogenoximes bearing ester, bromo, chloromethyl,
