Additive Effect of the Composition of Endophytic Bacteria Bacillus subtilis on Systemic Resistance of Wheat against Greenbug Aphid Schizaphis graminum Due to Lipopeptides

open access: yesLife, 2023
The use of biocontrol agents based on endophytic bacteria against phloem-feeding insects is limited by a lack of knowledge and understanding of the mechanism of action of the endophyte community that makes up the plant microbiome.

The unconventional adverse effects of fungal pretreatment on iturin A fermentation by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens CX‐20

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, 2021
Summary Fungal pretreatment is the most common strategy for improving the conversion of rapeseed meal (RSM) into value‐added microbial products. It was demonstrated that Bacillus amyloliquefaciens CX‐20 could directly use RSM as the sole source of all ...

The Iturin and Fengycin Families of Lipopeptides Are Key Factors in Antagonism of Bacillus subtilis Toward Podosphaera fusca [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Podosphaera fusca is the main causal agent of cucurbit powdery mildew in Spain. Four Bacillus subtilis strains, UMAF6614, UMAF6619, UMAF6639, and UMAF8561, with proven ability to suppress the disease on melon in detached leaf and seedling assays, were ...

Isolation and characterization of new iturins : Iturin D and iturin E.

open access: yesThe Journal of Antibiotics, 1987
Two new antibiotics, iturin D and iturin E, were isolated from a strain of Bacillus subtilis producing iturin A. These compounds belong to the iturin group, the acid hydrolysates contained alpha-amino acids Asp3, Glu1, Pro1, Ser1, Tyr1, and a mixture of n-C14, iso-C15, anteiso-C15, iso-C16 and n-C16 beta-amino acids.

Comparative efficacy of seed biopriming and soil drenching with Bacillus altitudinis TM22 and Bacillus atrophaeus MCM61 on the suppression of Fusarium wilt of cotton. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
Co‐application of Bacillus strains TM22 and MCM61 suppressed Fusarium wilt of cotton. Seed biopriming with Bacillus strains performed better than soil drenching. TM22 + MCM61 improved vegetative and physiological aspects in cotton plants. TM22 + MCM61 enhanced the activity of defense enzymes and defense gene expression.
