Over-expression of MAP kinase phosphatase-2 enhances adhesion molecule expression and protects against apoptosis in human endothelial cells

open access: yes, 2010
In this study we used adenovirus infection to overexpress the dual specific phosphatase, MAP kinase phosphatase-2 (MKP-2), in human umbilical vein endothelial cells and examined inflammatory protein expression and apoptosis, two key features of ...

Rewiring NADH Metabolism Through NQO1‐Mediated Redox Cycling for Targeted Follicular Lymphoma Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Follicular lymphoma (FL) remains an incurable B‐cell malignancy with high relapse rates, and conventional therapies are often limited by significant toxicity, highlighting the need for novel treatments. We identified that FL exhibits markedly low expression of NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), a key enzyme required for activating ...

Dusp1 modulates activin/smad2 mediated germ layer specification via FGF signal inhibition in Xenopus embryos

open access: yesAnimal Cells and Systems, 2020
Activin, a member of the transforming growth factor (TGF-β) superfamily, induces mesoderm, endoderm and neuro-ectoderm formation in Xenopus embryos. Despite several previous studies, the complicated gene regulatory network and genes involved in this ...

Reovirus Infection Activates JNK and the JNK-Dependent Transcription Factor c-Jun [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2001
ABSTRACT Viral infection often perturbs host cell signaling pathways including those involving mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). We now show that reovirus infection results in the selective activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK).

Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Cells Utilize IL8 and CXCL1 to Suppress NK Cells’ Function and Facilitate Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells evade natural killer (NK) cell immunity by secreting IL8 and CXCL1. These chemokines suppress NK cells’ function via CXCR1/2 and enhance cancer cells’ survival through PD‐L1 upregulation and BCL‐2 anti‐apoptotic signaling.

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Decursin negatively regulates LPS-induced upregulation of the TLR4 and JNK signaling stimulated by the expression of PRP4 in vitro

open access: yesAnimal Cells and Systems, 2020
The current investigation was carried out to analyze the correlation of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and pre-mRNA processing factor 4B (PRP4) in inducing inflammatory response and cell actin cytoskeleton rearrangement in macrophages (Raw 264.7) and

Lysine Acetylation Reshapes the Downstream Signaling Landscape of Vav1 in Lymphocytes

open access: yesCells, 2020
Vav1 works both as a catalytic Rho GTPase activator and an adaptor molecule. These functions, which are critical for T cell development and antigenic responses, are tyrosine phosphorylation-dependent.

USP14 promotes colorectal cancer progression by targeting JNK for stabilization

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
MAPK/JNK signaling is pivotal in carcinogenesis. However, ubiquitin-mediated homeostasis of JNK remains to be verified. Here, with results from RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and luciferase reporter pathway identification, we show that USP14 orchestrates MAPK ...

Pramanicin analog induces apoptosis in human colon cancer cells: critical roles for Bcl-2, Bim, and p38 MAPK signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pramanicin (PMC) is an antifungal agent that was previously demonstrated to exhibit antiangiogenic and anticancer properties in a few in vitro studies. We initially screened a number of PMC analogs for their cytotoxic effects on HCT116 human colon cancer
