Engineering Corynebacterium glutamicum for fast production of l-lysine and l-pipecolic acid
The Gram-positive Corynebacterium glutamicum is widely used for fermentative production of amino acids. The world production of L-lysine has surpassed 2 million tons per year. Glucose uptake and phosphorylation by C. glutamicum mainly occur by the phosphotransferase system (PTS) and to lesser extent by inositol permeases and glucokinases.

Fermentative production of L‐pipecolic acid from glucose and alternative carbon sources
AbstractCorynebacterium glutamicum is used for the million‐ton scale production of amino acids and has recently been engineered for production of the cyclic non‐proteinogenic amino acid L‐pipecolic acid (L‐PA). In this synthetic pathway L‐lysine was converted to L‐PA by oxidative deamination, dehydration and reduction by L‐lysine 6‐dehydrogenase ...

Changes of Metabolites in Acute Ischemic Stroke and Its Subtypes
Existing techniques have many limitations in the diagnosis and classification of ischemic stroke (IS). Considering this, we used metabolomics to screen for potential biomarkers of IS and its subtypes and to explore the underlying related ...

L-Pipecolic acid oxidase, a human enzyme essential for the degradation of L-pipecolic acid, is most similar to the monomeric sarcosine oxidases [PDF]
L-Pipecolic acid oxidase activity is deficient in patients with peroxisome biogenesis disorders (PBDs). Because its role, if any, in these disorders is unknown, we cloned the associated human gene and expressed its protein product. The cDNA was cloned with the use of a reverse genetics approach based on the amino acid sequence obtained from purified L ...

A Simple and Highly Sensitive HPLC Method with Fluorescent Detection for Determination of Pipecolic Acid in Mouse Brain Areas [PDF]
A simple and highly sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of pipecolic acid in mouse brain areas was developed. After homogenization of brain and pretreatment with o-phthalaldehyde, the pipecolic acid and (2S,3S)-3-

Cell-free biocatalytic syntheses of L-pipecolic acid: a dual strategy approach and process intensification in flow [PDF]
As an alternative to the traditional chemical synthesis or in-vivo production of L-Pipecolic acid, we have developed two ex-vivo strategies using purified and immobilised enzymes for the production of this key building block.
