Perillic Acid Synergizes With the Miltefosine Leishmanicidal Effect Against Leishmania amazonensis
ABSTRACT Perillic acid (PA), a monocyclic monoterpene derived from limonene, was evaluated for its leishmanicidal activity alone and in combination with miltefosine, as well as in its microemulsion‐based formulation. PA demonstrated synergistic activity with miltefosine and was effective against both promastigote and amastigote forms of Leishmania ...

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) extract significantly reduced oocyst shedding and intestinal lesions in immunosuppressed mice infected with Cryptosporidium parvum, while enhancing antioxidant defences (GPx, TAC). These findings suggest chamomile as a promising phytotherapeutic agent for cryptosporidiosis. ABSTRACT Background Cryptosporidiosis, caused

This study investigated the activity of photosensitive phthalocyanines on promastigotes and amastigotes of Leishmania (L.) amazonensis. Aluminum phthalocyanine chloride (AlPcCl), Aluminum phthalocyanine hydroxide (AlPcOH) and zinc phthalocyanine (PcZn) were tested in the presence (matte red LED, potency of 2.5-2.3 μW for 30 min) and absence of light ...

Fusion between Leishmania amazonensis and Leishmania major parasitophorous vacuoles: live imaging of coinfected macrophages. [PDF]
Protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania alternate between flagellated, elongated extracellular promastigotes found in insect vectors, and round-shaped amastigotes enclosed in phagolysosome-like Parasitophorous Vacuoles (PVs) of infected mammalian ...

A novel pyridine–thiazole derivative, Compound 8, exhibited potent dual antitrypanosomatid activity. It demonstrated remarkable in vitro efficacy against Trypanosoma cruzi (IC50 = 1.0 µM) and L. amazonensis (IC50 = 3.9 µM). Molecular docking studies suggested interactions with heme and multiple molecular targets.
