Label‐Free Leukocyte Biophysical Profiling Using Impedance‐Deformability Cytometry for Rapid Cardiovascular Risk Stratification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an impedance‐based single‐cell profiling platform that quantifies the electrical and mechanical properties of neutrophils across in vitro, in vivo, and clinical samples. The approach reveals distinct biophysical alterations associated with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and cardiovascular complications, suggesting its potential utility for ...

Integrin β3 Orchestrates Hepatic Steatosis via a Novel CD36‐Dependent Lipid Uptake Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In MASH, ITGB3 recruits LYN and drives its ubiquitin‐proteasomal degradation via phosphorylation. This relieves DHHC5 inhibition, enabling ITGB3/DHHC5/CD36 complex assembly to enhance CD36 palmitoylation and fatty acid uptake, thereby exacerbating disease. Targeting ITGB3 blocks this pathogenic axis and ameliorates MASH.

Hyperleptinemia in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and obesity: approaches to the assessment and prevention of leptin resistance

open access: yesGastroenterologìa
Background. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and obesity remain the most common comorbid pathology, which significantly affects the deterioration of the quality of life of patients.

Leptin resistance in patients with chronic schizophrenia

open access: yesPsychiatria i Psychologia Kliniczna, 2019
Aim: Leptin is produced by the adipose tissue and reduces body weight by decreasing appetite and increasing metabolism. Patients treated with antipsychotics often have treatment-induced weight-gain, leading to other metabolic complications.

Association between serum leptin concentrations and insulin resistance: a population-based study from China. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: Insulin resistance contributes to the cardio-metabolic risk. The effect of leptin in obese and overweight population on insulin resistance was seldom reported.

Impact of Body Weight Loss During Preoperative Chemoradiotherapy on Prognosis of Patients With Lower Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between changes in body weight and composition during chemoradiotherapy, such as the psoas muscle mass index, visceral fat index, and subcutaneous fat index obtained from computed tomography images, and long‐term outcomes in rectal cancer patients.

Glucocorticoids as Counterregulatory Hormones of Leptin: Toward an Understanding of Leptin Resistance [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes, 1997
The product of the ob gene, leptin, is a hormone secreted by adipose tissue that acts in the hypothalamus to regulate the size of the body fat depot. Its central administration has been shown to decrease food intake and body weight, while favoring energy dissipation.

Reading hominin life history in fossil bones and teeth: methods to test hypotheses regarding its evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human life history is derived compared to that of our closest living relatives, the great apes. It has been suggested that these derived traits are causally related to aspects of our ecology, social behaviour and cognitive abilities. However, resolving this requires that we know the evolutionary trajectory of our distinctive pattern of growth,
