High fat diet (HFD) induces oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction which culminates in fatty liver disease. Autophagy and mitochondrial dynamics are affected by HFD. Turmeric and mangosteen have potential roles as antioxidants and regulators of mitochondrial function in the liver.
