The interaction of MC3R and MC4R with MRAP2, ACTH, α-MSH and AgRP in chickens [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Endocrinology, 2017
The interaction of melanocortin-4 (MC4R) and melanocortin-3 (MC3R) receptors with proopiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived peptides (e.g. α-MSH), agouti-related protein (AgRP) and melanocortin-2 receptor accessory protein 2 (MRAP2) is suggested to play critical roles in energy balance of vertebrates.

Corticotropinoma as a Component of Carney Complex. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Known germline gene abnormalities cause one-fifth of the pituitary adenomas in children and adolescents, but, in contrast with other pituitary tumor types, the genetic causes of corticotropinomas are largely unknown.

KNDy neurons as an indirect target of insulin‐like growth factor‐1

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Neurons in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus (ARH) that coexpress kisspeptin, neurokinin B, and dynorphin (KNDy neurons) are considered the gonadotropin‐releasing hormone (GnRH) pulse generator necessary for fertility. KNDy neurons are also metabolic sensors controlling the hypothalamic–pituitary‐gonadal (HPG) axis.

Targeting central melanocortin receptors: a promising novel approach for treating alcohol abuse disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2014
The melanocortin (MC) peptides are produced centrally by propiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons within the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus and act through five seven-transmembrane G-protein coupled melanocortin receptor (MCR) subtypes.

The Concise Guide to PHARMACOLOGY 2025/26: G protein‐coupled receptors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue S1, Page S24-S151, December 2025.
The Concise Guide to Pharmacology 2025/26 marks the seventh edition in this series of biennial publications in the British Journal of Pharmacology. Presented in landscape format, the guide provides a comparative overview of the pharmacology of drug target families. The concise nature of the Concise Guide refers to the style of presentation, being clear,

Non-Synonymous Single-Nucleotide Polymorphisms and Physical Activity Interactions on Adiposity Parameters in Malaysian Adolescents

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
BackgroundSeveral non-synonymous single-nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs) have been shown to be associated with obesity. Little is known about their associations and interactions with physical activity (PA) in relation to adiposity parameters among ...

The Genetic Blueprint of Obesity: From Pathogenesis to Novel Therapies

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 26, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by disturbances in energy homeostasis, leading to excessive fat accumulation. The pathogenesis of the disease is shaped by a complex interplay of genetic, epigenetic, biological, psychological, and environmental factors.

mRNA and microRNA analysis reveals modulation of biochemical pathways related to addiction in the ventral tegmental area of methamphetamine self-administering rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background Methamphetamine is a highly addictive central nervous system stimulant with increasing levels of abuse worldwide. Alterations to mRNA and miRNA expression within the mesolimbic system can affect addiction-like behaviors and thus play a role in

Extracellular LCN2 Binding to 24p3R in Astrocytes Impedes α‐Synuclein Endocytosis in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 39, October 20, 2025.
24p3R is an astrocytic receptor for α‐Syn uptake. When LCN2 is secreted from astrocytes, it binds to its receptor 24p3R in astrocytes and this binding impedes the α‐Syn PFF binding to 24p3R. This in turn inhibits 24p3R‐mediated α‐Syn PFF uptake and reduces the clearance of extracellular α‐Syn by astrocytes, which contributes to α‐Syn spread and ...
