ForestPMPlot: A Flexible Tool for Visualizing Heterogeneity Between Studies in Meta-analysis. [PDF]
Meta-analysis has become a popular tool for genetic association studies to combine different genetic studies. A key challenge in meta-analysis is heterogeneity, or the differences in effect sizes between studies.

Discordant susceptibility of inbred C57BL/6 versus outbred CD1 mice to experimental fungal sepsis [PDF]
Individual susceptibility differences to fungal infection following invasive and/or immunosuppressive medical interventions are an important clinical issue. In order to explore immune response-related factors that may be linked to fungal infection susceptibility, we have compared the response of inbred C57BL/6J and outbred CD1 mouse strains to ...

Aortic dissection (AD) is accompanied by a decrease in CCDC80 in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). CCDC80 can interact with JAK2, and VSMC‐specific CCDC80 deficiency accelerates the progression of AD by activating the JAK2/STAT3 pathway involved in regulating the phenotype switching and function of VSMCs.

Summary: Mouse studies continue to help elaborate upon the genetic landscape of mammalian disease and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Here, we have investigated an Embigintm1b allele maintained on a standard C57BL/6N background and on a co-isogenic ...

The exon 16 of the mouse Apc gene was targeted with CRISPR/Cas9 system and a novel Apc knockout mouse model was generated by creating a frameshift mutation at codon 750 (ApcΔ750). The polyp number, polyp distribution and the overall survival of mice carrying the ApcΔ750 allele significantly differs between the F8‐FVB‐ApcΔ750 and F4‐B6;FVB‐ApcΔ750 mouse

Most immunological studies that utilize different strains of inbred mice following T. gondii infection fail to compensate for differences in host susceptibility to the size of the parasite innoculum.

The subfamily Gomphrenoideae is composed of about 480 accepted species, many of which have been historically used as medicinal plants, reason why they have been studied in terms of chemical profile, biological activity, and safety. This review consolidates the advances in research on this subfamily over the past 47 years, emphasizing its promising ...

Superovulation using the combined administration of inhibin antiserum and equine chorionic gonadotropin increases the number of ovulated oocytes in C57BL/6 female mice. [PDF]
Superovulation is a reproductive technique generally used to produce genetically engineered mice. Superovulation in mice involves the administration of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) to promote follicle growth and then that of human chorionic ...

Innate immune basis for rift valley fever susceptibility in mouse models [PDF]
Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) leads to varied clinical manifestations in animals and in humans that range from moderate fever to fatal illness, suggesting that host immune responses are important determinants of the disease severity. We investigated the
