miR-29a-3p/T-bet Regulatory Circuit Is Altered in T Cells of Patients With Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
ObjectiveHashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is a common autoimmune thyroid disorder that frequently evolves from asymptomatic, T-cell mediated chronic inflammation toward overt hypothyroidism. Previously, we have demonstrated a role for T-bet, a T helper 1/CD8+

MicroRNA Profiling Implies New Markers of Gemcitabine Chemoresistance in Mutant p53 Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yes, 2016
Background: No reliable predictors of susceptibility to gemcitabine chemotherapy exist in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). MicroRNAs (miR) are epigenetic gene regulators with tumorsuppressive or oncogenic roles in various carcinomas.

Application Strategies of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in Bone‐Related Diseases

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Engineered BMSCs and vesicles enhance therapy effects for bone diseases via multi‐strategic approaches. ABSTRACT Bone‐related diseases (e.g., osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and fractures) exhibit a rising global incidence, imposing significant burdens on both quality of life and healthcare systems.

Downregulation of RGMA by HIF-1A/miR-210-3p axis promotes cell proliferation in oral squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesBiomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2019
Repulsive guidance molecules comprise a group of proteins that play an important role in carcinogenesis through interactions with their receptors, but their function in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is unclear. Here, we investigated the potential role of the RGM family members in oral cancer pathogenesis.

Structuring osteosarcoma knowledge: an osteosarcoma-gene association database based on literature mining and manual annotation

open access: yes, 2014
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary bone cancer exhibiting high genomic instability. This genomic instability affects multiple genes and microRNAs to a varying extent depending on patient and tumor subtype.

Cellular Signalling Networks in High Altitude Pulmonary Hypertension: From Canonical Pathways to Emerging Targets

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the intricate cellular signalling networks involved in high‐altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH), integrating canonical pathways like HIF, MAPK and BMP with emerging targets such as Wnt/β‐catenin, Notch, Hippo‐YAP and IL‐6. It highlights potential therapeutic strategies targeting these pathways to mitigate vascular remodelling ...

Longitudinal trajectory of circulating microRNA-210-3p and its association with low-dose aspirin use in gestational hypertension and preeclampsia: a pilot study

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension
Background Circulating microRNA-210-3p (miR-210-3p) is a hypoxia-related regulator implicated in placental maladaptation. Its longitudinal behavior across hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), and whether low-dose aspirin modifies its trajectory ...

Developmental expression of Ap‐Vas proteins in aphids and flies reveals their evolutionary roles in insects

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Duplication of vas genes is universally observed in aphids, and phylogenetic analysis indicates that this event predates the divergence of Aphididae and Phylloxeridae. Ap‐vas1 is germline‐specific, whereas Ap‐vas2–4 exhibit somatic expression, indicating functional divergence during aphid embryogenesis.

Discovery and Validation of Circulating Hsa-miR-210-3p as a Potential Biomarker for Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma

open access: yesInvestigative Opthalmology & Visual Science, 2019
Blood-based examination tools for glaucoma diagnosis in clinical practice, which can be useful for screening patients when traditional ophthalmic examinations cannot be utilized, are not available thus far. This study aimed to identify circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) associated with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and explore their utility as ...
