CXCL12-induced neurotoxicity critically depends on NMDA receptor-gated and L-type Ca2+ channels upstream of p38 MAPK. [PDF]
BackgroundThe chemokine receptor CXCR4 (CD184) and its natural ligand CXCL12 contribute to many physiological processes, including decisions about cell death and survival in the central nervous system.

Efficient, Reversible Lead Adsorption in a Thiol‐Decorated Zirconium‐Metal–Organic Framework
A thiol‐decorated Zr‐MOF, Zr‐DMSA, efficiently captures Pb(II) from water via mixed S/O chelation enabled by flexible “dangling” ligands, as revealed by solid‐state NMR and pair distribution function analyses. Treatment with 1 M HCl fully reverses Pb binding, regenerating the material for up to 10 consecutive adsorption–desorption cycles.

ACTH4 -10, Substance P, and Dizolcipine (Mk-801) Accelerate Functional Recovery After Hemilabyrinthectomy in Goldfish [PDF]
In this study, we evaluated the goldfish model of hemilabyrinthectomy for investigating potential recovery-promoting drugs. In this lesion model, the unilateral removal of the labyrinth induces a postural imbalance in response to light (Dorsal Light ...

Low dose MK-801 reduces social investigation in mice [PDF]
To characterize MK-801's effect on social behavior in mice, we examined adult male ICR mice for interaction with companion mice (juvenile male). Test mice were injected with either saline or MK-801 (0.1 mg/kg), and were tested 30 min later for their social behavior during a 5-min session.

Evaluation of preclinical antipsychotic models used to support first‐in‐human clinical trials
Abstract Schizophrenia is regarded as a complex and heterogeneous psychiatric disorder, characterised by diverse symptoms and comorbidities, which complicate both clinical management and drug development. Current pharmacological treatment, primarily based on dopamine D2 receptor antagonism or partial agonism, which has not markedly progressed since the

Spreading depolarization and its influence on epileptiform activity
Abstract Spreading depolarization (SD) is a transient disruption of electrographic activity that slowly propagates through the gray matter by chemical contiguity, and it is characterized by a large depolarization of neurons and glial cells. SD, which is associated with massive changes in ion homeostasis, including extreme increases in [K+]o, was shown ...
