COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Expression of Drosophila Matrix Metalloproteinases in Cultured Cell Lines Alters Neural and Glial Cell Morphology

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are zinc- and calcium- dependent endopeptidases that play pivotal roles in many biological processes. The expression of several MMPs in the central nervous system (CNS) have been shown to change in response to injury and ...

Unifying time evolution and optimization with matrix product states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We show that the time-dependent variational principle provides a unifying framework for time-evolution methods and optimisation methods in the context of matrix product states.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Overexpression of MMPs in Corneas Requiring Penetrating and Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
PurposeMatrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) comprise a family of zinc-dependent endopeptidases involved in wound healing processes, including neovascularization and fibrosis. We assessed MMP protein expression levels in diseased corneas of patients requiring

The chemopreventive polyphenol Curcumin prevents hematogenous breast cancer metastases in immunodeficient mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Dissemination of metastatic cells probably occurs long before diagnosis of the primary tumor. Metastasis during early phases of carcinogenesis in high risk patients is therefore a potential prevention target.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Influence of photodynamic therapy on the level of matrix metalloproteinases in squamous cell skin cancer

open access: yesBiomedical Photonics, 2022
The effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on the level of matrix metalloproteinases in squamous cell skin cancer (SCSC) was studied. The study involved 202 people, including 185 patients with SCSC, who were on outpatient and inpatient treatment in medical

マトリックスメタロプロテアーゼと膵疾患 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) is a family of collagenolytic enzymesand are associated with many pathological conditions. Especially, MMPs have a strong relation with tumor progression and invasion. In this review, we focused on association of MMPs and

Expression of the metalloproteases MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, MMP-11, TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 in angiocentric midfacial lymphomas [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2008
AbstractBackgroundExtranodal T/NK cell lymphomas possess distinctive clinico-pathological characteristics: they are angiocentric, exhibit extensive necrosis. Prognosis is poor in the short term. The objective is to explore the expression of different MMPs in the cells and stroma which are around of the blood vessels damaged and their correlation with ...
