Occurrence of mycotoxins in milk and dairy products in Brazil: A review of recent data, regulatory aspects, preventive and decontamination strategies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dairy Technology, Volume 79, Issue 2, April–June 2026.
Mycotoxin data in Brazilian milk and dairy products over 20 years indicate aflatoxin M1 as the most frequent, although ochratoxin A, fumonisins and deoxynivalenol were also found in some studies. These data underscore the importance of control measures to reduce dietary mycotoxins in Brazilian dairy feed and avoid their residues in milk.

Spectroanalytical Parameters of Fungal Metabolites. IV. Moniliformin

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1974
Abstract The spectral data for a novel fungal metabolite, moniliformin (potassium salt of 1-hydroxycyclobut- 1-ene-3,4-dione), are reported. The corrected ambient temperature fluorescence excitation and emission spectra are given and the quantum efficiency is calculated to be 5.32 × 10舓3.

Fusarium species and mycotoxin profiles on commercial maize hybrids in Germany

open access: yes, 2010
High year-to-year variability in the incidence of Fusarium spp. and mycotoxin contamination was observed in a two-year survey investigating the impact of maize ear rot in 84 field samples from Germany. Fusarium verticillioides, F.

The Sfp-type 4'-phosphopantetheinyl transferase Ppt1 of Fusarium fujikuroi controls development, secondary metabolism and pathogenicity.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The heterothallic ascomycete Fusarium fujikuroi is a notorious rice pathogen causing super-elongation of plants due to the production of terpene-derived gibberellic acids (GAs) that function as natural plant hormones. Additionally, F.

Enteric Nervous System Damage by Food Contaminants: A Pathway to Neurodegeneration? [PDF]

open access: yesCompr Rev Food Sci Food Saf
ABSTRACT The enteric nervous system (ENS), a key component of the gut–brain axis, has emerged as a critical player in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). It is the first neural system exposed to food contaminants (FCs)—a diverse group of ubiquitous toxic compounds fortuitously present in food derived from production, processing, storage, or ...

Phenotypic Validation and SSR Marker Association in Sesame Germplasm Contrasting for Dry Root Rot (Macrophomina phaseolina) Tolerance

open access: yesJournal of Phytopathology, Volume 174, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is an ancient oilseed crop of family Pedaliaceae, known for its quality oil, supplemented with dietary advantages due to the presence of bioactive compounds like sesamin and sesamolin. Phyllody and dry root rot (DRR) are the two major biotic stress factors that cause significant yield reduction and economic loss in ...

Systemic Activation of the Antioxidant System by Root Priming With Non‐Pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum in Flax Infected With Pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Fusarium oxysporum Fo47 primes flax by locally suppressing pathogens in roots and systemically activating antioxidant defences in shoots, offering a sustainable plant protection strategy. ABSTRACT Plants rely on specialised adaptive mechanisms to enhance resistance against environmental stress.
