Analyzing the signaling properties of gar (Lepisosteus oculatus) melanocortin receptors: Evaluating interactions with MRAP1 and MRAP2 [PDF]

open access: yesGeneral and Comparative Endocrinology, 2019
RT-PCR analysis of gar pituitary and brain indicated that different combinations of gar melanocortin receptor mRNAs are present in the same tissues with mRNAs for gar mrap1 and gar mrap2. Against this background, an objective of this study was to determine whether the ligand sensitivity for either ACTH or α-MSH was affected when gar (g) melanocortin ...

Time‐Restricted Feeding Alters Behavior in a Sex‐Specific Manner in Mice With Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 8, 27 April 2026.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) alleviates anxiety‐like behavior in male mice with neuropathic pain (NP), but not in females. Upon nerve injury, TRF altered the diurnal expression of transcripts in the hypothalamus. These findings suggest that TRF should be explored as a new therapeutic approach to alleviate the comorbid anxiety in NP.

The interaction of MC3R and MC4R with MRAP2, ACTH, α-MSH and AgRP in chickens [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Endocrinology, 2017
The interaction of melanocortin-4 (MC4R) and melanocortin-3 (MC3R) receptors with proopiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived peptides (e.g. α-MSH), agouti-related protein (AgRP) and melanocortin-2 receptor accessory protein 2 (MRAP2) is suggested to play critical roles in energy balance of vertebrates.

A novel pathogenic variant in MRAP2 in an obese patient with successful outcome of bariatric surgery

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Endocrinology, 2023
Abstract Mutations in genes encoding proteins located in the leptin/melanocortin pathway have been identified in the rare cases of genetic obesities. Heterozygous variants of MRAP2, encoding a G coupled-protein receptor accessory protein implicated in energy control notably via the melanocortin-4 receptor, have been recently identified ...

Analysis of the Role of the Mc4r System in Development, Growth, and Puberty of Medaka

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
In mammals the melanocortin 4 receptor (Mc4r) signaling system has been mainly associated with the regulation of appetite and energy homeostasis. In fish of the genus Xiphophorus (platyfish and swordtails) puberty onset is genetically determined by a ...

Differential Gene Expression in Human Hippocampus With Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2026.
2 complementary analysis from a transcriptome study in human hippocampal samples of different ages revealed a set of genes differentially expressed in aged individuals linked to inflammation and immune system pathways, DNA repair (RAD23) or neural activity.

Large-scale association study on daily weight gain in pigs reveals overlap of genetic factors for growth in humans

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2022
Background Imputation from genotyping array to whole-genome sequence variants using resequencing of representative reference populations enhances our ability to map genetic factors affecting complex phenotypes in livestock species.

Pharmacological regulation of melanocortin-3 and -4 receptors by melanocortin-2 receptor accessory protein 1 or 2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The neural melanocortin receptors (MCRs), melanocortin-3 and -4 receptors (MC3R and MC4R), play essential non-redundant roles in the regulation of energy homeostasis.

Pharmacological characterization of fish melanocortin-4 and melanocortin-5 receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) plays an important role in the regulation of food intake and energy expenditure. The melanocortin-5 receptor (MC5R) has been implicated in the regulation of exocrine gland secretion, immune regulation, and muscle fatty ...

Cerebrospinal fluid proteins in relation to longitudinal cognitive trajectories

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION We investigated longitudinal cognitive trajectories in relation to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteomics in Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS Differential protein abundance analysis of proteomics (SomaScan 7K) data was performed for composite scores for domain‐specific cognitive functions (memory [MEM], executive function [EF], and
