Regulation of mRNA stability via BRF1 and other AU-binding proteins [PDF]
Steady state levels of mRNAs are determined by the rate of synthesis and degradation. A well-known cis-element conferring instability to mRNA is the so-called AU-rich element (ARE), which is present in the 3’ untranslated region (3’UTR) of many cytokines,

Epitranscriptomics refers to chemical changes in RNAs and includes numerous chemical types with varying stoichiometry and functions. RNA modifications are highly diverse in chemistry and respond in cell-type- and cell-state-dependent manners that enable and facilitate the execution of a wide array of biological functions.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The mRNA encoding the yeast ARE-binding protein Cth2 is generated by a novel 3 ' processing pathway
Microarray analyses of mRNAs over-expressed in strains lacking the nuclear exosome component Rrp6 identified the transcript encoding the ARE-binding protein Cth2, which functions in cytoplasmic mRNA stability.

A workflow to define structural classes and classify nucleic acids circular dichroism spectra
Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy is a widely utilized technique for studying the structures of chiral molecules, including nucleic acids. It is particularly valued for its ability to quickly probe structural changes in these biomolecules. Despite its

Genomic structure and expression of the porcine ACTC1 gene
A partial cDNA (~1200 bp) of the porcine ACTC1 gene was identified in the subtracted foetal hind limb muscle cDNA library (44 days of gestation; using m. biceps femoris cDNA as the driver).

Insights into the mRNA Cleavage Mechanism by MazF, an mRNA Interferase [PDF]
MazF is an Escherichia coli toxin that is highly conserved among the prokaryotes and plays an important role in growth regulation. When MazF is induced, protein synthesis is effectively inhibited. However, the mechanism of MazF action has been controversial.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
