ABSTRACT People with Phelan–McDermid syndrome (PMS) have reduced speech and language abilities, yet little research has profiled the communication abilities in this population. The purpose of this study was threefold: identifying the language and communication profiles of school‐aged children with PMS, identifying genetic contributions to language and ...

An evaluation of MTF determination methods for 35mm scanners [PDF]
Three different techniques were used to determine the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of a 35mm film scanner. The first involved scanning sine wave charts comprising a number of patches with different frequencies of known modulation.

Allowed to lay approximately the same amount of eggs, then in each tube the ratio of eclosed Dpy-30L1 overexpressors to controls was determined. In normal food, the cross was expected to yield 1/3 overexpressors and 2/3 controls i.e., a ratio of 0.5 ...

Zinc-induced Dnmt1 expression involves antagonism between MTF-1 and nuclear receptor SHP [PDF]
Dnmt1 is frequently overexpressed in cancers, which contributes significantly to cancer-associated epigenetic silencing of tumor suppressor genes. However, the mechanism of Dnmt1 overexpression remains elusive. Herein, we elucidate a pathway through which nuclear receptor SHP inhibits zinc-dependent induction of Dnmt1 by antagonizing metal-responsive ...

Classifying avian drinking behaviour: ecological insights and implications in a changing world
ABSTRACT Water is a fundamental currency of life, and its availability significantly influences animal behaviour, physiology and distributions. However, our knowledge around the dependence on water for drinking and the direct and indirect mechanisms driving related behaviours remains partial in the context of changing climates. Here, we review patterns

females were allowed to mate with wild type or mutant males, the females were then dissected and checked for a GFP signal in their reproductive system. 30 minutes after mating, 20% of wild type sperm had accumulated in female storage organs.

The modulation transfer function for speech intelligibility. [PDF]
We systematically determined which spectrotemporal modulations in speech are necessary for comprehension by human listeners. Speech comprehension has been shown to be robust to spectral and temporal degradations, but the specific relevance of particular ...

ABSTRACT Background Anal cancer rates are rising among women, immunocompromised individuals, and Men who have sex with Men (MSM), independent of HIV status. While high‐resolution anoscopy remains the diagnostic standard, limited access has increased interest in alternative screening.

A novel brand‐new co‐firing slow solidification process has been used to prepare Cs3Cu2I5: In single crystals (SCs), which demonstrate record‐breaking X‐ray detection performance. The regular‐shaped Cs3Cu2I5: In wafer obtains a high light yield (74 368 Ph MeV−1), which is the highest related to indium‐doped Cu‐based perovskites.
