Bacterial Diseases in Farmed Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus): A Review of Pathogenesis, Immune Responses and Recent Advances in Diagnostics and Management

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
Pathogenesis of bacterial diseases in Nile tilapia and anti‐bacterial mechanisms. ABSTRACT Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is among the most widely farmed fish globally that plays a major role in ensuring food security in many low‐ and middle‐income countries.

Detection of DNA Gyrase Mutation and Multidrug Efflux Pumps Hyperactivity in Ciprofloxacin Resistant Clinical Isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, 2013
Target modification and reduced drug accumulation are the main resistance mechanisms against fluoroquinolone antibiotics in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. We performed a genotypic characterization of three major Mex multidrug efflux pumps (MexAB-OprM, MexXY ...

Antibacterial and Immunomodulatory Activities of a Natural Polysaccharide Against Staphylococcus aureus Infection

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
Polysaccharides from Polygonatum kingianum (PKP) were extracted with ethanol and hot distilled water, followed by centrifugation and drying. In vitro, PKP inhibited both E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus in a concentration‐dependent manner, with stronger activity against the Gram‐positive S. aureus (89.8% at 400 mg/mL) than against E.

Effect of Green‐Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles From Nepeta pogonosperma and Astrodaucus persicus on the Reduction of Bap Gene Expression in Strong Biofilm‐Producing Acinetobacter baumannii Clinical Isolates

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
Green‐synthesized silver nanoparticles from Nepeta pogonosperma and Astrodaucus persicus significantly inhibit biofilm formation and downregulate bap gene expression in multidrug‐resistant clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii. This eco‐friendly approach offers a promising strategy to combat antimicrobial resistance.

Adjuvant Antibacterial Effects of Mouriri Elliptica Against Clinical Multidrug Resistant Gram‐Negative Bacterial Strains

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
The ethanolic leaf extract of Mouriri elliptica exhibited antibacterial and antibiofilm activities against multidrug‐resistant clinical isolates and enhanced the activity of ampicillin. Its diverse chemical profile and low acute toxicity support this Cerrado species as a promising source of natural antibacterial adjuvants. ABSTRACT Bacterial resistance
