Novel Variant of New Delhi Metallo-β-lactamase, NDM-20, in Escherichia coli

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
The spread of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) mediated by New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) poses a serious challenge to clinicians and has become a major public health concern.

A Genomic Catalog of Migratory Microbiomes from Wild Birds across China's Habitats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Migratory birds play an important role in the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR); however, gaps in surveillance data from vital regions along migratory flyways across China limit the detection of emergent threats. Here, we assembled 340 metagenomes from 52 bird species covering 11 provincial administrative districts in China, presenting ...

Whole-Genomic Analysis of NDM-5-Producing Enterobacteriaceae Recovered from an Urban River in China

open access: yesInfection and Drug Resistance, 2021
Three NDM-5-producing Enterobacteriaceae (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Citrobacter braakii, one each) were isolated during a screening study for the presence of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) strains in urban rivers in China. The aim of the present study was to characterize these NDM-5-producing isolates by using whole-

A Dual‐Functional Biohybrid Nanorobot to Synergistically Eradicate Biofilm and Degrade Antibiotic Resistance Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biohybrid nanorobot integrating lytic bacteriophage N4 with Pd nanozymes is developed for targeted eradication of multidrug‐resistant E. coli biofilms. Synergistic bacterial lysis and ROS‐mediated oxidation enable simultaneous biofilm removal and antibiotic resistance genes degradation, maintaining high efficacy in complex wastewater environments ...

First Report of Metallo-β-Lactamase NDM-5-Producing Escherichia coli in Japan [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2014
Reports of carbapenemase-producing carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae are increasing worldwide ([1][1]). Among the newly emerged carbapenemases, New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) represents the latest threat to public health.

Molecular epidemiology of Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in a paediatric hospital in China

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2020
Objective: We investigated the epidemiological characteristics of drug resistance and virulence factors of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) isolates from paediatric patients in Shanghai. Methods: CRKP strains were consecutively collected

Iron deficiency with and without anemia in pregnancy: A scoping review of prevalence and perinatal impact

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The prevalence of iron deficiency with anemia and iron deficiency without anemia (IDWA) during pregnancy have not been summarized, and evidence of the direct association of IDWA with adverse perinatal outcomes (APO) are unknown.

Increasing New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-positive Escherichia coli among carbapenem non-susceptible Enterobacteriaceae in Taiwan during 2016 to 2018

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) had been reported to be the predominant carbapenemase among Escherichia coli in Taiwan. However, studies focusing on the clonal background and epidemiology of plasmids carrying NDM genes were limited.

Evaluation of FilmArray Multiplex PCR Test Results in Bloodstream Infections in Oncological Patients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
In this study conducted at an oncology hospital, BCID2 panel results for the rapid identification of microorganisms and resistance genes in positive blood culture samples were compared with conventional culture methods. The BCID2 panel provided faster results and showed a high correlation with traditional methods.
