Silver Nanoparticles Densely Grafted with Nitroxides as a Recyclable Green Catalyst in the Selective Oxidation of Alcohols

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
The selective oxidation of alcohols, leading to appropriate aldehydes, is widely recognised as one of the most important reactions in organic synthesis.

Evaluation of the Accessibility of Molecules in Hydrogels Using a Scale of Spin Probes

open access: yesGels, 2022
In this work, we explored by means of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy the accessibility of a series of spin probes, covering a scale of molecular weights in the range of 200–60,000 Da, in a variety of hydrogels: covalent network ...

Syntheses and Reactions of Pyrroline, Piperidine Nitroxide Phosphonates

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Organophosphorus compounds occupy a significant position among the plethora of organic compounds, but a limited number of paramagnetic phosphorus compounds have been reported, including paramagnetic phosphonates.

Nitroxide—HMP—Protects Human Trophoblast HTR-8/SVneo Cells from H2O2-Induced Oxidative Stress by Reducing the HIF1A Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2023
Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific syndrome affecting 5–7% of patients. There is no effective treatment available. Early abnormal placental development is associated with oxidative stress (OS) and a release of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the ...

Nitroxides as Radiation Protectors [PDF]

open access: yesMilitary Medicine, 2002
Selective protection of normal tissues from the damaging effects of ionizing radiation is an important objective in cancer treatment research. Likewise, radioprotective agents may be useful in protecting the human population in the event of radiation-related accidents or military conflicts.

Antihypertensive effect of mitochondria-targeted proxyl nitroxides

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2015
Superoxide (O2-•) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of many human diseases including hypertension. Mitochondria-targeted superoxide scavenger mitoTEMPO reduces blood pressure; however, the structure–functional relationships in antihypertensive ...

Preclinical Evaluation of Nitroxide-Functionalised Ciprofloxacin as a Novel Antibiofilm Drug Hybrid for Urinary Tract Infections

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2023
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the second most common bacterial infection with high recurrence rates and can involve biofilm formation on patient catheters. Biofilms are inherently tolerant to antimicrobials, making them difficult to eradicate. Many

EPR Spectroscopy: A Powerful Tool to Analyze Supramolecular Host•Guest Complexes of Stable Radicals with Cucurbiturils

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Stable organic free radicals are increasingly studied compounds due to the multiple and unusual properties imparted by the single electron(s). However, being paramagnetic, classical methods such as NMR spectroscopy can hardly be used due to relaxation ...

Direct Iodination of Isoindolines and Isoindoline Nitroxides as Precursors to Functionalized Nitroxides [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
AbstractA new method for the direct aryl iodination of isoindolines and isoindoline nitroxides that utilizes periodic acid and potassium iodide in sulfuric acid is presented. Di‐iodo functionalized tetramethyl and tetraethyl isoindolines and a di‐iodo tetramethyl isoindoline nitroxide were prepared in high yield (70–82 %).

Gold Clusters With Open‐Shell Ligands: Superatom Mediated Magnetic Interaction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Open‐shell verdazyl radicals were covalently integrated with atomically precise Ir‐doped Au12 (Ir@Au12) superatoms. The resulting radical–superatom hybrids exhibit photoinduced electron transfer, spin delocalization onto the metal‐cluster core, and weak ferromagnetic communication between radicals mediated by the superatomic electronic structure ...
